You're right, but I'm also going to suggest that there's a distinction in degree of wrongdoing, generally, between the female teacher/male student and male teacher/female student situations. Teenage boys will never say no. The position of authority may add to the teacher's sexual appeal, but it will not cause teenage boys to do something they wouldn't otherwise do. There's a much lower likelihood of any trauma or damage resulting from this interaction, because males have an easy time compartmentalizing sex and emotion. Young women are more likely to have sex for emotional reasons, because of their personal feelings toward a teacher. This creates far more serious problems.

I am wondering how much empirical evidence is there to support your assertions.

I am also wondering why every one is so comfortable treating the situations so differently, I mean I am going to cite the South Park episode as an example, the characters treated it nonchalant, but it was pretty obvious that sex with a toddler like Ike is pretty wrong. I don't see how the fact that a boy gets high fives from peers makes a boy at 13 more able to make an important decision to consent than a 13 year old girl. I am sure if you asked any pervy male that has sex with his student how much she "wanted it" he would say very much.
