Today she was 3rd to who are considered two favorites, Jenny Barringer and Susan Kuijken. She had one of the fastest times of the day, with top runners like Kendra Schaaf and Angela Bizzarri only seconds ahead.
I can legitimately see her getting 2nd place to Jenny Barringer. What are your thoughts?
Call me crazy, but I can legitimately see Jordan Hasay getting 2nd at NCAAs

No way she beats Kuijken....
-
no way maybe 3rd, kuijken tempo'ed the course today to help team mates
-
You're Crazy!
-
I think Barringer, Bizzari and Kuijken are probably too much for Jordan, but she does have quite a good kick and today she didn't know the course well to the point of thinking there was quite a bit more race left than there really was.
-
The girl is very smart, you just watch.
-
Not if neely spence was in the race !
-
I think Alli McLaughlin is much over looked. She hasn't had near the miles (or hype) that Jordan gets but she is a little tiger. I can't wait until she is unleashed!
-
I think McLaughlin would struggle to make top 20. However, she has a lot of newbie in her still and is learning so much so fast that top 10 wouldn't be a jawdrop surprise. She's a cinch for All-american, so I've tucked away a little bit of hope for top 15. Barringer has taken to calling her a "major talent."
-
If Kuijken goes after Barringer there is a miniscule chance that she completely blows up and Jordan would still have to run out of her mind to "win" the pack race that could catch Susan in the highly unlikely instance. But yes it is feesibly possible.

A Top 10 finish would be HUGE for any of the freshmen ladies this year (Hasay, Kroeger, McLaughlin, etc) though I think it is definitely possible. Combine the two races and factor that Villanova, WV and a few other top individuals were not there and a Top 10 finish this year looks particularly impressive. With a field that includes an Olympian
(a high placing one at that) and other top individuals from a variety of countries...making All-American will be quite an accomplishment, no matter what their "pedigree" or the publics expectations are. -
anyone know why kroeger didn't race yesterday?

ha...yeah, she "tempo'ed" cuz she knew barringer was impossible to beat. i love how when a race doesn't work out for someone, you'll often hear the "tempo" excuse, or "yeah, i wasn't running my hardest...just a tempo today." no one's beating barringer this year. and i think hasay has a good at second. in fact, i heard hasay was just doing a hard progression run yesterday. -
I can see her getting anywhere from 2nd to 5th. Conventional wisdom says the women you mentioned will be there, but there is always a suprise. I like Susan for 2nd, Kendra for 3rd, Jordan, then Bizzari.

My only point of interest is: How many 6k's has Jordan run?
....it most certainly COULD happen! -
I think 3 now (2 for Junior Nationals and Pre-Nats)
-
Hasay had the #6 time yesterday (#7 if you count Kimaiyo who would have held off Hasay at the line if she had bothered to try) and then throw in Villanova's and WV's top runners. She could go anywhere from 2nd to outside the top 10 depending on the circumstances of the day.

Why do the women run the ridiculous distance of 6k?
I think 7k would be more appropriate. -
I'd have them run the full 10k unless it'd make numbers dwindle.

Very true. Also, if you are talking about girls with top ten potential (who were not at pre-nats), throw in Cecily Lemon of BYU, the Texas Tech girl who just won Chile Pepper, WVU's top three, and VU's top four. So we have those nine not in Terre Haute, plus Bizarri, Washington's top 4, Blood and Kosinski, Duwell, Hasay, and probably 8 others that aren't at the top right now but will be come championship time. Honestly, I think the top two spots are locked and Bizarri is my favorite for third. Any of the 25 others I would throw their names in a hat and pick randomly. I have no doubt that Jordan can rub elbows with the likes of these women, but it will most certainly be a good battle for All-American spots as always.
