In xc, there is a senior (hs) to freshman (college) transition that usually (not in Puskedra or Derrick or Ferndandez) results in underperformances, but there is usually no sophomore jinx, because most runners get accustomed to the harder training as freshmen and perform far above their freshmen levels in xc. Lowe is now doing very well and Puskedra and particularly Derrick are showing that they are contenders for the crown this year.
You see Derrick, German, and Puskedra aren't "most runners." Soph. slumps aren't unusual for great Freshmen. Likely that at least one slumps this year.
