Great race by the freshman talent!
Great race by the freshman talent!
Ummm...she got beat. So much for your wonder child. Another one bites the dust.
She got beat by two 5th year seniors! These two are considered favorites... and she is a TRUE FRESHMAN!
Anyone know times for Barringer, Kuijken and Hasay?
fangirl fell for the troll. UW is kicking butt in the 2nd women's race, Schaaf out front
Barringer 19:50 (9:46 @3k), Kuijken 20:20 (10:10), Hasay 20:33 (10:09). looks like the slop slowed everyone down at least 30 seconds.
1. Colorado (94 points, #19 national rank)
2. Florida State (135, #11)
3. Oregon (169, #4) - might miss the podium at the championships
4. Georgetown (200, #13)
5. Stanford (206, #6)
6. Arizona (225, #39)
7. Iowa State (231, #7)

put kosinski in 7th instead of 77th (which seems perfectly reasonable) and oregon is only 5 behind colorado
i was actually pretty impressed with oregon's supporting cast today

You can only score the runners that ran the race, not the ones that didn't. Who knows what runners will be available to race next month.

dillweed
Popularized by the Beavis and Butt-head TV series, "dillweed" is a derogatory term used to describe irrational/dumb behavior and low intellectual capacity, usually resulting in some sort of consequence.
Literally, "dillweed" likens someone to pubic hair - "dill" being slang for "penis" (think dill pickle) and "weed" being slang for "hair."
I don't think Blood gave it her all, either.

fantastic background into an antiquated description. thank you.
As a freshman, could you do what she did today?
Barringer is not just a fifth year senior. She's someone who has run 9:12 in the steeple and 3:59 for 1500 meters. It's hardly a shock that Hasay isn't ready for that yet.
I think Oregon has the female Pre on their hands with Hasay. The word talent is not strong enough.
Coach gossip going around the country is that Villanova has a legit shot at taking down Washington. Maybe there will be some excitement beyond the podium cuts.
I think a lot of people should start looking outside the PAC-10 for a national champion. Villanova has been running VERY strong in the past several weeks. Gina has those girls hitting on all cylinders right now, and they easily defeated Oregon on the Duck's home course.

She is no Pre in numerous senses of the word. She is a very talented and motivated runner that is smarter than Pre ever was. She was very good early in the manner than many young girls are and has been able to progress better than most of them. She will not be running for the top 2 as a freshman even though the competition is great but no greater than what Pre faced as a freshman.
The two that beat her in her raced are very seasoned international runners of some acclaim. Those in the second race ahead of her are top runners on a national, not international level. She also just turned 18 (about the same age as Verbekas (spelling)).
