Why is asics making the Piranha III heavier than the II? I think if someone's running in such a light shoe they're not so worried about features or support or cushioning or whatever. It's going from 4.2oz to 4.6oz.

I don't like the II compared to the I because it's thicker in the sole. Not good news as far as I'm concerned.
worried about a little 0.4 oz huh? Maybe they added a few inches to the shoe lace.
Stop worrying...0.4 oz (0.8 oz for both, durr) isn't going to keep you from running a PR. Stop being a fanboy for shoes and just run.
Huh, I didn't notice the sole thickness difference; will have to look at both when I get home. I prefer the 1's upper but like the 2's sole. Running in the 2 seems a bit smoother, but maybe I think that only because of the difference in the sound of my footstrike: it's sort of more "cardboard-y" (a bit of clack - clack - clack) in the 1, quiet in the 2 as with most shoes. The other shoes I've had which clack-clacked similarly were a pair of water shoes, with a non-EVA sole. Latex maybe.
