better off training by yourself if your good at it. though depends on the community college. some cc's take good runners who are ineligibly (kenyans) and send them off to good schools in a year or two

Depends on what you're looking for, they have some good ones out there that don't rely on Kenyans and they have some that do. Just get the top 10 list and look up each school and see which one looks interesting enough. Every program is going to have good/bad things about them.
