This will be my second marathon. The first didn't have these GU stations. Does this mean they will be handing out the GU energy gel packets? I have my own supply that I was going to bring along and carry with me till I noticed this. I know this is a novice question, but it would be great if I didn't have to carry any of these!
If they have stations, then yes, they will hand out packs. I would recommend that you carry a least a couple of your own. You never know what could happen. They could run out, maybe have a different flavor than you are used to or whatever. Don't depend on the stations 100 percent.
If you have a sensitive stomach, or are really counting on the GU, take some that you know you like. However, plenty of fuel on the course if you aren't picky:

The Full Marathon course features 3 GU gel stations, 4 sponge stations, 18 Gatorade stations, 3 fruit stations, 9 medical stations and Port-o-Lets at every Hydration Station!
Thanks for the replies, I've tried each different flavor for the most part and all of them have agreed with me. I think I'll carry two of my favorites and rely on the gel stations to have my other two.
