Congrats to Sylvia Mosqueda, I heard she won in 1:09:?? Cassie Henkiel 5th (no time), Katie Blackett in 1:16:33, Debbie Arzola 1:17:42, Machelle Cochran 1:17:53. Anyone have more results?

The results are up at www.3m.com/races now. It was good day, nice temperature, although slight headwind the whole way - Sylvia's 1:09:53 is extremely impressive. Incidently, she came 11th overall in an always competitive field. Some may say the field was weaker this year, but as always some people don't show for various reasons (timing of trials, etc.), some were sick, some of us are fighting through injuries, etc. Nonetheless, she was flying and it was her 3rd half in three successive weeks (1:12, 1:11, 1:09). Good luck to her and all the great women runners in the upcoming trials who ran well today!
Also, equally impressive was the Andrew Letherby's 62:32 for 2nd! He finished only behind John Gwako (6th in World 1/2 Championchips 2000). I think it was about a minute PR, and it comes after running 2:12 in Fukuoka just 6 weeks ago. Australia seems to have some great distance runners at the moment.

Doesn't make that much different in reality - rolling, not downhill the whole way and a headwind. Fast course, but more because the organizers know how to design a fast course (it was a new course this year). Short uphills, long downhill sections, minimized sharp turns. Everybody seems to enjoy a fast course for a change, but I wouldn't call it "aided". The wind was about 7-10mph in our faces.
Anyone who would list his or her time on this course as a half-marathon PR is a fraud.
Teddy Mitchell was 3rd on the mens side with a 1:04:26. Thats a good race, but it doesn't seem like the best idea to race half marathons on back to back weekends so close to the trials.

Great luck to you TeddyM, piss off most of you! Teddy get up in there on 2-7-4.
1:04:26? Sounds like a long tempo run for a well trained runner shooting for 2:09 at the trials.

"You" wouldn't, but "objective third parties" might. The 3M course "drops" about "420 feet" from start to finish. That is "over six times" the "allowed amount" for a "half-marathon." You'd need "one hell of a headwind" to negate that "obvious advantage."
Funny how everyone who seeks out these fraudulent downhill events to record phony PRs always says afterwards that the hills were "rolling" and there was a stiff headwind for most of the race.

Funny how old washed up never was has beens always seem to fondle themselves and lose sleep pissing and moaning, screetching like a little bitch, making a big deal about a course that's downhill!!
for Teddy's sake, I hope so. 2 races 2 and 3 weeks out from the Trials seems like a big risk to me. Maybe Teddy can bounce back from the this no problem...or he has been listening to Eddy or trying to replicate his racing approach, which is far from the norm. What's Teddy's PR, 2:16? I wish him well if he can run 2:09, but that seems a big stretch....if so, at least he has the nads to try it.
The only way to satisfy you cynics is to go run around a 400m track for a half marathon, to replace the road race concept. Each course has its characteristics, get over it. Those really concerned with PRs do it to test themselves, not to prove anything to an old guy. Congrats to anyone out there that made an improvement today. Your free to make your negative comments, but unless you were out there and can speak from your experience on the 3M course today, the words are meaningless.

oldguy,
You said it brother! That's the mindset of many roadracers however. They run around the country seeking courses to make themselves something they are not. Funny how these people never think to mention the course when spouting their PR's. Of course apologies to the many who measure their efforts on legitimate courses, as not all fit my stereotype above. I'm waiting for someone to finish their career by claiming a mile WR by leaping off the rim of the Grand Canyon. They may die, but tough to beat a mile PR of 8 seconds. But it was legit, there was a headwind part of the way. By the way, some of the whiners getting after you for pointing this out only goes to reinforce your point.

Chubbie,
Let's see you nut up here. You, or old guy for that matter, list any of the "many road racers" who run around the country seeking courses to make themselves something there are not.
You're full of shit.
Look at the list of the top 10 at this race, any of them "spouting off" about a PR on this course? Yes there are races out there that are net downhill, but I've yet to hear of anyone traveling to these races to make themselves out to be something they are not.
You ever run Boston, or is it beneath you because it's net downhill?
Here is the deal. Shay keeps spouting his mouth off about how he plans to go through the half in 1:04:30. Teddy may be trying to one up him. Teddy will prove to all of you guys that want to dis him that he is the man. You guys that think that Shay is the only guy planning on going through the half in 1:04:30 are wrong. Go Teddy, shock them all. Now you know that you're ready.
