Rudisha looked like he hit 53 / 51 (like Jim Ryun 40 years ago, or Borza from a few years back). I wouldn't doubt Gary hit a 51 also. I agree with a guy over at TAFNews though, I think time is up for Gary, Borza, Khadevis and a few of the "older" guys though. Rudisha might be a bit older than is claimed, but he and Kaki and Kiprop, never mind Symmonds and a few others have got a ways to go. If the sport can gain any popularity again in Europe amongst the kids in order to beef up the fields, we may see the 800 take off again, after five or six years of rather stagnant performances, just one runner here or there putting in fast times.
