Where did you find this information?

Any idea who is competing this weekend? It also sounds like Wisconsin has 12 freshman on their team this year but their roster doesn't show this.

Adams State is Division II. In all other sports you rarely, if ever, see DI teams competing against DII schools, unless it is a pre-season exhibition game or match. Nobody seems to get upset about this, but in cross country everyone gets upset that a DI school doesn't necessarily want to compete against DII schools. If they want to compete against DI schools, they can switch their affiliation to DI. There is a reason there are different divisions in the NCAA.

Adams State is running in the OSU (OK State) meet that day.

They are having a small, small meet tomorrow (Friday) at 5pm. Is anyone else planning on being there to see the new facility.

As for the Roster; they are usually slow in getting that updated, especially in the last year when a new person took over XC/T&F and focuses on other elements he has to get done. I suppose that you could contact the sports info guy for the sport and offer to generate the bios if he gave you a general info source.

I googled "Wisconsin Inter-Regional Invitational" to get many of them and looked at the schedules for some other likely suspects.

The roster has been updated so all of the freshmen are now listed.

And D1 teams play D2 teams in all sports throughout the pre season, which is what the big open xc meets are - pre season. So people have every right to moan if D1 teams constantly shy away from the best D2 teams.

And the above poster is correct Adams State will be at the Cowboy Jamboree that day which with OSU, Adams State, NAU, William and Mary, Western State plus a load of other teams is probably the best meet in the nation.

You do know schools switch divisions all the time, don't you? I guess not. How about the North Dakota and South Dakota schools, how about UC-Davis, etc. I hate when stupid people call someone else stupid. If schools feel like their athletic program would benefit by going DI, they will try to do it. Obviously Adams State doesn't feel that need or that they are ready to do it for their entire athletic department. Also, a meet in October is NOT like a pre-season basketball game, especially a meet that is being used to help determine at-large bids for the DI national meet. Most of the time when people complain about the DII or DIII schools not being able to compete, it is not the pre-season meets.

Try again, but you should probably refrain from the stupid comments until you have some knowledge about what you wrote.

By the way, I don't think anyone on this message board doesn't believe that Adams State is a DI level school in cross country. They have proven that consistently. This doesn't give them the right to compete in any meet DI meet that they want to. Many schools will let them, others won't. Get over it.

From what I have heard, it is a great course. It is nice to see one of the best programs in the country on a yearly basis, finally getting a nice cross country course and hosting some meets. It looks like this years meet in early October will already be a pretty good meet and in future years, I am sure they can make it even better. Early October in Madison will usually have great cross country weather.

The Alumni race is no longer being run there... but it should be a good race. Girls are only racing 5k that day.

Hard to understand, then why 1) the Wisconsin staff would choose to go to Iona's meet, and 2) why the Wisconsin AD would approve such an incredibly silly expenditure of funds.

They canceled the Alumni Race? Why would they do that especially with the chance to have some of their great alums come back and give Madison a great show. Poor Choice if you ask me.

This is a decent field for the first year, especially since they're going up against the Lehigh, Louisville, Notre Dame, Oregon and Oklshoma State meets, among others.

I've heard that Wisconsin will have an alumni race on the same day. I don't know if that's true, but Oklahoma (Martin Smith) being at the meet may lend some credibility to it.

Just having Syracuse there for another Miller v. Miller matchup is reason enough for this meet to be among the nation's elite

I agree. Miller twins seem to always put on a nice show. It will be exciting to see how some teams play out there. Michigan, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Auburn, Arkansas, etc... Oh, boy. Should be a great invite.
