Does anyone else find it ironic that the Hanson's have such strict rules regarding their male and female athletes inter-mingling... yet Kevin Hanson admits that a lot of DD's success can be attributed to training with her boyfriend.
Perhaps they re-think their strategy hmmm?
Well, I guess he's a "civilian," not a member of the team. But he must be at least an "auxiliary."

I just found it ironic that the Hansons are so strict with their rules regarding dating and yet their best athlete ever (yes, including Brian Sell) trains regularly with someone of the opposite sex who happens to be her boyfriend. It made me think that they should re-evalute their rules.

Dating SOMEONE ON THE TEAM! They probably don't have a problem with their athletes dating, hell they can date multiple people for all they(Hansons) care, just as long as you aren't ON THE TEAM. Very simple, see? Why is it so hard to understand this concept. I'm not really that smart, and even I get it.
I imagine they have that policy to try to avoid having issues within the team due to relationship problems or break-ups. I'm sure everyone here has seen those problems on a co-ed team.

Yeah, I had that same situation in my life. I wasn't allowed to date any of my co-workers in the same division. There was an actual policy against it! Can you imagine that, here I was, a professional business person and my boss was telling me who I could and couldn't see. The nerve of them...

Right, the rule is in place probably to prevent relationship 'issues' from influencing anyone to make a hasty exit from the team when things are working for that person otherwise.

My friend, yes, you did assume. I have re-read your first sentence at the top (which is the same one I referenced in my original comments) and you infer Desi is dating another Hanson's runner.
Haven't Chad and Melissa been together for a long time?

You said "...trains regularly...", but I've read all of the pre and post Berlin interviews and I read that this training with her boyfriend-Kevin Hanson's description of him, not Desiree's-was done due to the other females on the team not training for an August marathon. Dot McMahan was recovering from having a baby during Desiree's Berlin training. Melissa White was training for 10k stuff during Desiree's Berlin training. Same with Carol Jefferson. I read and inferred that this "...regularly.." was more temporary since Desiree's teammates, not training for an August marathon, would be doing different types of training during that time. So she was allowed to train with the boyfriend (what the hell, Desiree, is he your friend or boyfriend??) for this training block, but training without the other women on the team was a temporary thing from what I read.
On a side note, I live near Hanson's Royal Oak store so I look in at the Hanson threads all the time. What happened to the person who was bashing Chad Johnson and claimed to have run sub 2:30 at Columbus? He sort of disappeared once "DukerDog" outed him by saying only a few Michigan people have run that fast in so many years and he knew those people. I'll have to ask that question on the other thread I guess...........
More likely guy on guy. I heard that Sell and Verran both went through an experimental stage prior to their marriage.

Because it hasn't been so clear thus far... She is dating someone not on the team but close to/with the team. His marathon PR is now very close to hers (just 1-2 minutes faster).
i thought i had heard the boyfriend use to train everyday for the the last 5 years with the team maybe thats where they met but isnt that against the rules

People are stupid. I work at FEDEX Kinko's. I am not permitted to date a coworker. I can however date a customer or a vendor or anyone else I want. What middle school kid has a hard time understanding this concept.
That doesn't really explain why Chad Johnson and Melissa White are allowed to date.
