I’m confused.
2.08 a new record?
I thought the world record was 2.09 by Kostadinova from way back.
Just watched the video. Feel a bit freaked out now, partly because she jumped so high and looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown before and afterwards and partly because Transylvanian (or whatever crazy country she's from) music is so damned bad.
The crowd were going crazy - like seriously she must be the most famous person from there. If she ever does 2.10 (I actually hope and think she might) they will probably have a national party for like a week (about like the Brits do when the Queen had been on the throne for 50 years).
The record is in fact 2.09. Blanka is now tied for #2 on the all-time list.
Perhaps in addition to being her new personal record it is a national record. I don't know for sure but it seems unlikely that the only woman to jump higher is also from such a small country.
Why not bite the bullet and go for that extra centimetre?

Very good question

She's tried so many times and rarely even come close. She always won the meet at like 2.00 or worse so she'd go straight to 2.10 and a lot of people have been suggesting trying intermediate heights.

This is all I have, I can't give you anymore, not even one extra centimeter. GOD DAMN! You chicks are never happy.
I'd say what she does is probably motivated by the financial incentives tied to records.
If she had always been going straight from 2.00 to 2.10, then there was probably no money on the line for anything between and a big pot at 2.10. If the money line changed at this meet, that would explain the attempt and the behavior.
this seems like a weak record.
i guess there are no drugs that helps with high jumping.

Of course there are. Drugs which improve power to weight/strength to weight ratios will do just that. Steroids obviously being the biggie, but there are others...
The music in the video = the soundtrack of my life, the singer sounds like a Croatian Neil Diamond.
