I was thinking the same thing...but the 800m still relies on the aerobic system...which is why you have far more 800/1500 types than 400/800 types.
The only 400/800 types I remember were Gray and Everett.
I think sometimes people forget about Johnny Gray, 1:42.6...at the time the 4th all-time.
Wariner has the build of a 800m runner. He should give it a go...maybe try an indoor 600m on a lark (indoors is the only place I can think of that would have a 600m race).
