From a scan of his training log it seems he's been having hamstring problems. It was probably to keep it as warm and supported as possible.
Probably because full-length tights would've been too hot for the local conditions.

the better question is: what in the hell was he even doing representing the USA. 232 are f'ing kidding me? that is pathetic that one of our "top" marathoners isn't under 220. we can do better than that. the selectors should have done a better job or he should have sacked up and given his spot to someone else who was actually fit.
Why do we have DNS Ed Torres, DNF Justin Young and 2:32 Nate Jenkins. Those guys should have given up those spots to the 20 other guys in the USA who can run sub 2:20

Stop for one second and put yourselves in the shoes of those that ran at the WC. How many of you would have done better? Yeah we had a DNS and a DNF in the marathon. Did you notice there were 20 DNFs in that race? I am willing to bet that every single one of the 20 DNFs could run faster than anybody on these boards that is complaining. It is so easy to judge from behind a computer. I suspect that all of you have never had a bad day, let alone a bad workout. Why don't you quit running your mouths and try to run against our US athletes. Obviously, none of you were in the running to make the team.
You're right man. From this day forward I will adopt Beardley's training regiment and Hopefully in a few years I can make you guys proud.

Probably not 20 (someone will prove me wrong)
but we had 4 Hanson athletes and Sergio Reyes go under 2:20 at Boston. Pretty tough course. I know its the money that dictates races, but it is disappointing that we don't even try to put together a fast team with the people we do have.
