Three in top five ... we rock in this event. Maybe Let's Run should devote more energy and topics to shotputting where we rule. We never do anything in distance ... outside of naturalized Americans.

I am sure Let's Put would have fewer scrawny posters ...
And probably an average IQ equal to room temperature.
The shot putters I've known have tended to be more cerebral than pretty much any sprinter or jumper and even many distance runners I've known.

ditto what nipples said - most sprinters never read a lick in their lives - NFLers generally pick out Sports section of newspaper and leave rest behind -
why would you get upset about him generalizing throwers then go do the same thing to sprinters? didn't christian cantwell go to dartmouth btw? definitely not a stupid guy...maybe a big guy, but not a stupid one.
Why would you assume I was upset based on my post? Idiot. As for what I said about sprinters, it's my personal observation, my own experience and not a "generalization."

When it comes to these balls, no one wants to take them to the face.

It was gratifying to see Cantwell live up to potential. He, Hoffa, etc could go out and break the legs of as many top guys in the distance events as possible to give us Yanks more of a chance.
Yes it was a great competion to watch on unisports.
I can't have fatties as role models no matter how strong or how far they can throw a heavy ball.
Yep it was great to see the Americans beat up on all those African, South American, Caribbean, and Asian throwers.
Cantwell went to Missouri, you must be thinking of Adam Nelson.
The shot put isn't that thrilling, however, I enjoy watching the discus, hammer, and the javelin. There's not a lot of drama to the shot.
I could care less who is smarter, distance runners or shot putters. Based on this message board, distance guys aren't coming across as Einsteins.

These cannon balls throwers wouldn’t get past the heats of the world strongest man contests.
And the greatest, Mariusz Puszianowski, hasn’t an ounce of fat on his body.

Irony!
Adam Nelson is going to UVa's Darden school for his MBA.
The shot is my favorite field event to watch (the women's pole vaulters are nice looking but the event itself is not intriguing.
The WSM competition doesn't really test. Mariusz is so juiced up...His native country even dismissed him for killing someone.
In comparison the World's best shot putters would do far better in the WSM competition than reversed.
