i have a pair of Nike Mayfly's and I wore them today to do a workout in grass. I ran in the morning and there was a significant amount of dew on the grass, so my shoes got pretty wet. I know that the mayfly's don't last very long, would getting them wet make them last even less?

Should be absolutely no problem at all. Certainly will not affect the soles and the upper is almost indestructible. Tyvek like they use to wrap the insulation of new homes.
Mayflys get way more miles than advertised.
Anyone know what Nike's plans for the Mayflys are? I like these a lot, good minimalist shoe and cheap.

If you're a forefoot striker as I am, I've gotten about 500 miles out of each of 4 different pairs, with a pair of Spenco
x-trainer insoles inserted.
I LOVE the Mayfly. I really wish they still made them. They lasted longer than 100 miles, but still not as long as most other flats. I think I got about 300-350 miles out of them before the upper (seam between the upper and the sole) ripped on my left shoe.

Thanks. I found the pair I had at a Ross for $15. I should have stocked up, but I didn't think I'd like them as much as I did. To answer the OP's question, water won't make them fall apart any sooner. I ran on a lot of trails though, which I'm sure is why they ripped on the side (from shifting around).
Why do people think they are discontinued, they are still readily available from Nike.
They are not in Nike's Summer or Fall 2009 catalog.

Ifdeal shoe for 5 and 10k races over roads. Not really the ideal training shoe though!

It is a shoe that comes and goes I believe it is gone for the Holiday catalog but are back at the being of 2010
My only question is why did they make them so ugly? Why not just plain colors?
suppose it makes them distinctive and easily recognised by the running community. Great sales and marketing idea that seems to have worked for the Nike empire!
