Wimps. Men and ladies in ther 70's finished that thing. Why is such a big deal made about it?
Maybe because you can't Gallowalk the bike portion.
Yeah, fit men and ladies in their 70s. They have a pretty decent cutoff time, and if you don't make it, you don't make it. Not everyone can do it. You have to train and be fit to do so, and also, they don't just let anyone who want to enter. Why the negativity just because people in their 70s can do it? I hope to be fit enough to give it a try when I'm 70.
Why is it that when anyone asks a question about something, some other idiot has to start a whole negative rant on the subject?
I asked for a site to check results. Thanks to the person who gave me the link.
As for the person who has to go on about 70 year olds can do this, why dont you go out and try to do one. When you do let us know how you feel.
I agree with Albany boy. The Iron man does have 70 year olds that finish but they are among the most incredible specimens of human substance there is on this earth. Get a clue jerk.
Good call.
I wouldn't have said anything on this thread at all except that that other poster put the 70-year-olds down. I was just looking for the results same as you.
Thanks for the post so that I could get the answer.
Fact remains that 70 year olds (and older) finish it. It's a joke.
riding 112, that the marathon would be a joke right? I mean shit if my grandmother can finish an IM, KK and PR must be complete pussies?
Dipshit!!!!!
Not everyone can do this. You have to qualify to even get in. There is a lottery where they let 150 americans enter and 50 foreigners enter. But they still have to finish a race of half-ironman distance or higher. If you think it is so easy than why dont you try it. There are a lot older people running marathons, does that make running a marathon a joke. Come on man, lets think a little. An ironman is a huge test of endurance. Anybody can do anything, But not everybody can do something well no matter what the task.
at everything he turns his hand to which is why he is so instantly dismissive of anyone elses achievments......
I've done both and fair play to anyone that can finish either, the ones that knock it are the ones that have issues.........................
Listen bitch, my ironman pr is 9:27:32. I've been to Hawaii. Twice. It's not that tough. That's why it's no big deal that 70 year olds finish it. Of course, all you can do is show your frustration by being shown up by those with AARP cards that you have to resort to name calling.
While your pea brain is on the subject of issues, deal with yours over feeling insecure because someone's granny is tougher than you.
And yes, KK and all marathon runners are wimps. Any ironman would break a puny little marathoner in two. That's why they and your silly ass stick to running. Takes loads of talent to put one foot in front of another. If KK or any of you other sissy runners tried that after swimming and biking, you'd be in the medical tent crying for your momma.
Now go out and get in your 7 miler today. Don't forget to stretch.
The way I see it, OUR NATION / CULTURE LACKS RESPECT.
So *anyone can*, my father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1990. He immediately went from a very "able-bodied" person who worked 50+ hrs/wk to a prognosis of <5yrs to live (as he would eventually not be strong enough to BREATHE). He took our family from being very poor to middle-class with his "TWO-HANDS".
Fortunately the doctors wre WRONG and Today, at age 45, he can still stand with the aid of a wall / walker to balance his spastistic body. This is a vast IMPROVEMENT (simply being able to stand) from his near death, systemic depletions just a few years ago!!
I could go on and on and on, but I'll wrap it up by saying "PLEASE RESPECT THE ABILITY YOU HAVE, WITHOUT CRITICIZING (DISRESPECITING) THE DREAMS OF MANY, MANY OTHERS", because as with my father - YOU ARE NOT IMMORTAL and you have NO CONTROL over the fact that TOMORROW MAY TAKE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE away.
To all who read this - Dream, Hope, but most of all - RESPECT!!!
By the way, my father dreams of walking a mile (using a walker) with me someday. For now, I run sub 2:30 marathons and he Cries while watching each one (a common side-effect to M.S. is the inablity to control one's emmotions).
Why do people have to reply to jerks just looking for attention. You are almost as bad as the jerks!! First the child puts down the Ironman, then goes on to say proudly (and I GUARANTEE you, falsely) that he has done it twice and he has a bad-ass PR in it (to impress us) and that running takes no ability, but let?s see a runner do an Ironman!!! He can?t even get his silly made-up point straight(is the Ironman for wussses, or is it pretty hard and we should be impressed with his bad-ass Ironman PR and the fact that he is bad-ass tri-athlete who can break any runner in 2?? ) and you reply to him about ?respect??? Geesh. Ignore him!!!
And what do your sub-2:30?s have to do with anything? This is about the Ironman being the ultimate test, and it is. You could not even write about your sick Dad without slipping in a marathon PR, huh?
I'm ranting fucK shit Shit Fuck jerk, Pussy runner, pussy ironman Got to ran 10,000 miles today.
This topic is for, the specail people.
Gee the way I remember it Mark Allen dropped out at his one and only attempt to break 2:20 for the marathon. Which by the standards of his board is crappy anyway. Must be a real puss!!!
you'd have known that if you knew anything about putting up decent numbers...........
You put up 8.30 and change or sub 9, but 9.30, F**king Joe Boness is nearly 50 and he'd beat your A$$......
Just goes to show you're a bitch.
What the hell are you talking about??????????????????????
Pointing out that Anyone Can is a bitch because he's talking about numbers that a handful of people put up in IM's, 9.30 and change would put you in the top 10-15 in any NA IM, top 40 go close to 9 in AU though, but either way Anyone Can is talking a lot of shit
