unofficial 3:35!!!!
unofficial 3:35!!!!
man, i saw the same thing. what was the standard??? 3.35.2? you're not in iowa anymore, baby!
3:35.23 official!
WOW..Small town kid makes good.....Southern Illinois are so proud!...
GO DORIAN!!!!!.....can you say A STANDARD!
Illinois milers doing well...all 3 three of them!
3:36.20 is the A standard. WOW....nice to drop 5 seconds in one race.
The rabbit was out in :53 and then hit a :60. Dorian was probably :54-:55 and then :60. Not exactly the easy way to PR when you are at that range!
Ulrey 3:35.23!

Isn't Jager an Illinois product as well? That would be 2 young Illinois products going to worlds. Derrick may have a shot in a couple years at 10K.
Where was this earlier in the season?? Congrats to Dorian hopefully he can improve even more at worlds. After his 3rd at US Champs he was really hyped only to find out he didnt have the A or B and now he comes out and drops 5 sec!!
Now that he doesnt have to chase the standard anymore he can just solely focus on Berlin.
He was 12th. He should go focus on some German chicks while he's there and enjoy the one and done.
No shame in that.
Jager is not running the mile, but yes he is from Illinois to!....Wurth and Ulrey are quite the story and Pifer is doing well also!
Actually he said in interviews that his confidence to a big beating after getting rocked by Rupp indoors, thinking how could he get beat like that by a 5K-10K guy? Took him some time to get his head around that, probably helped that Rupp was racing and beating 3:37 guys at conference and regionals.
At NCAA's Dorian had a stomach flu during the final and was pretty amazed that he finished as strong as he did.
I remember when he was running that indoor mile at the Tyson meet and was in a great position with a lap to go and he looked great, but got tripped up by Myers, that Ulrey was going to have a big finish. He just went into a funk after NCAA's and finally returned to form now.
He looked spent at the finish. I reckon he could have run 3:34 if not for that flail-flop thing at the end.

And perhaps if the rabbit wasn't out in :53.
He's got a 3:33.9 in him.
Great run. I'm pretty surprised.
I'm not at all taking away anything from Dorian Ulrey's fantastic run, nor am I implying that German could have run a 3:35 by default. But did anyone else, upon seeing the results, think that German's future event might be the 1500?
Congradulations to Ulrey. He went, he raced, he nailed it.
Don't think anyone has brought this up that I have seen, but...
Is this a new collegiate record? Old record was Sydney Maree 3:35.30. Anyone know officially?

Good question, not sure how this works. Jennings ran 3:35.21 in Sept. of 2000 and had school left but I think they have a cutoff. I also thought he went 3:35 at the trials that year but maybe not.
