Just as good as Gatorade.
Just as good as Gatorade.
For electrolyte replacement OJ is possibly just as good as Gatorade, which is handy to have WHILE you're active. However, a good recovery drink should have a carb:protein ration of ~4:1. Chocolate milk is about as good a recovery drink as anything. Gatorade is not a recovery drink because it lacks the protein. It's an electrolyte replacement drink.
It is pretty sour. Will mess up your stomach/teeth after a while
I like cold orange juice and a Hershey's chocolate bar after runs over summer when it's really hot out. Not all the time, but if I'm in the mood for sugar, that's my go-to.

Any carb-protein combination:

The only problems I have with the chocolate milk is the added sugars, low protein to carb ratio and the fact that milk sugar (not the added sugar they put in it) is not digestable by most humans.

I LOVE orange juice! It is the only thing that sounds appetizing to me on hot days after long runs. I can drink a half-gallon of it in a single sitting. Good stuff.
Don't lecture me about carbs >:(
You don't really need a recovery drink for runs < about 20 miles. You're just adding unnecessary kcal.
That inspired your name? Oh wow. That's bizarre. At least I have a better reason for the pet name than THAT.
that reason being that you are indeed another person?
Ovaltine?
I heard cherry juice is actually a really good recovery as well? any truth?
tart cherry juice is a good recovery drink because of its strong anti-inflammatory compounds.
When I first started running (age 15 or so) I used to use Sunny Delight (now known as "Sunny D" apparently) as my exclusive recovery drink. That crap has very little in common with orange juice, though. It's more like Tang or Kool-Aid, but it kinda looks like orange juice.

Because, bitch, if you remember OJ took the heads off of two people back in '94. There was no recovery
The acidity of OJ the problem.
