Just found this through RunnersTribe - fast running for an old guy. Only 12 seconds behind Ben Askettle from NAU who is a 29 low 10k guy

Agreed: that's a hell of a race for an old guy.
But mostly I'm curious about the runner who beat him - is that last name a contraction for "Ass over teakettle"?
Moneghetti broke just missed breaking 30 mins for 10km a few weeks ago, ran 30.05,

Funny thing in that race was that he almost beat on of Australia's world cross country reps - who Moneghetti actually was involved in selecting because he is a national selector!
Very Jon Sinclair-esque. Glad to see him still tearing up the roads after all these years. Gotta be around 30 years now...
The dude won a world champs marathon medal 12 years ago, should still be able to run solid, but man 30 minute 10km is not slow. Still, what would his motivation be?
he probably wants to stay fit, live longer and he just likes to be in shape. that, or some weirdos just like to run hard and push themselves for no particular reason.
when I'm his age I wanna have better things to do than belt my body around the roads
Great run for a great runner.....I just hope that I can run one mile in 5:00 when I am 46!
Jason
Get back to us when you're that age and tell us of all the better things you are doing, okay?
Nothing wrong with running hard at that age! Good on him, he once held the world best time for the half marathon, he just likes to keep training, and due to lack of injury etc, he's still at that level. Go Monners, LEGEND!!
Dude, he ran 60:06 in his prime and won Berlin Marathon - awesome to see he still can beat most guys out there
Mona is very much a lover of running. There is no sacrifice or pressure it is just purely for the enjoyment these days. He is a great ambassador for the sport and a well known celeb here in Australia.
That race, which was the State 15k road champs was held a few 100 metres from his childhood home.
It was cold and very windy otherwise he would probably have cracked the 46mins.

So you're saying that at your age now you DON'T have better things to do than belt your body around the roads? If I take your meaning right, you're saying that at your age it's perfectly all right to spend huge chunks of your life running (though probably not as successfully as Steve is now) and posting on LetsRun, but this is going to somehow magically change when you reach middle-age? ... Because, what, when you're young and getting an education and struggling to make it in the world you're just overloaded with free time? Wow, you should write a book on the road to success! You could title it, "A Fast Soapbox to Nowhere."
No, this isn't a time or an age issue with you. It's you searching for any excuse possible to piss on someone else's accomplishment ... because that's the only accomplishment someone like you will ever claim.

But you won't.
troll baiting that's all...

Tim Mcgrath really has to stop plugging his own blog. Nice try.
No deal.
I'm 43 and I don't have anything to do by myself aside from work and run. So I run a lot. The rest of my time is spent looking after wife and kids. Thank God for running.
I still get a kick outa completing a set of 800s on the track, some hill reps and a hard 15km tempo run. Not as fast as the old days but it sure feels the same.
