GO BARRINGER!!!!!!!
GO BARRINGER!!!!!!!
Man, I can't for the steeple at ncaa's. What will she run? 9:15? Faster?
Has there ever been a deeper US race?
2 Jenny Barringer USA 3:59.90
4 Anna Willard USA 4:01.44 4:01.439
5 Christin Wurth-Thomas USA 4:01.72
6 Shannon Rowbury USA 4:03.92
Solid question.
She decimated the Collegiate Record of 4:06.80 held by Hannah England of FSU as well. I was surprised the commentators didn't seem to have a clue what the record was and had no idea she was in the race and doing so well.
On other thoughts what does anyone think about Flanagan and Donohue's performances since leaving Coach Cook?
Both ran one second off their PR...
Shalane was pretty close to her PR...so really not that bad of a race.
Why are our season's top two milers running Steeple?
Also why wasn't Kara running the 1500m instead of 2000m?
pretty amazing that a meet dedicated to a Distance runner has nothing but sprint, and jump commentators. They are all awful, at least Boldon is halfway decent.
how about not going to a break during a distance race to interview a 400m runner?
Why should Barringer and Willard drop the steeple to focus on the 1500 just because they're doing well at the event. I think this bodes extremely well for both of them as steeplechasers on the world stage. How frightening would it be to be a blood-doping Eastern European and know that two clean American women can run around 4:00 for the 1500? Sure, Barringer and Willard could do really well at the 1500, but why would they give up the steeple when they've just begun to develop this kind of blistering closing speed?
Just because they are Americans you think they are CLEAN? seriously? What is Jenny B now the 3rd under 4 minutes? ..... Who else did it... Marry Decker and Regina Jacobs? we all know they were drug cheats
First results I checked - and wow - very impressed

Slaney and SFH , SpikeJacobs missed by 1/3 of a sec
Call him an aloof antisocial type with a silly ponytail if you must, but Mark Wetmore is the LAST guy who would allow any form of cheating on his watch. If Barringer is dirty he would step down, his mindset is that firm about it.

because killer finish won't help if you are 50+m behind at the bell in globals won in 8'58/9'05
the event doesn't require 3'59 speed, it requires 8'30 endurance
She's fourth all-time in the US. Fantastic. She's gonna medal at the steeple with that kind of speed, no?
Completely agree regarding the Wetmore/Barringer drug thing. There is NO WAY Wetmore would let it happen under his watch.
Why do you think Adam and Kara left him for Salazar...?
Jacobs ran 3:59.98 indoors.

Agree.

It's an answerable question actually, and not the one you insinuate. The Gouchers left Boulder for the following reasons: To get better access to Nike support and sponsorship to further their careers as professional runners. Also Wetmore thought Adam was close to the end (he was wrong), is too preoccupied with coaching collegiate runners to give the profesional runners the proper attention and hand-holding they require, and the Gouchers also left (somewhat frustrated) because Brad Hudson refused to coach the Gouchers post-collegiately.
