Hasay may arguably be the best high school girl distance runner ever but this is one record that has eluded her thus far. Her 9:52 at the California State meet last year was close but still pretty far. I believe she lost some training early on but is said to be training better than this time last year already. Will Hasay get the first ever 4-peat and the 13-year-old national high school record of 9 minutes, 48.59 seconds set by Thousand Oaks’ Kim Mortensen?
I hope she doesn't, she is sooo smug it is positively maddening. This child needs an ego check.

She will not get close to the record.
less than optimal training(a bit of illness), no one to push her in the state final this year, and she also looks like she's growing into her woman's body, which may take some time to adjust to and ascend to a higher level with, so i doubt we'll see a sub 10 min. 3200 anytime soon.
but in a couple years we'll start seeing sub 15 min 5k times.

oh, and there's nuthin "creepy" about commenting on a competitive runner's transition out of adolescence--it's a credible challenge to most female runners.
I hope she does it, simply because of the negative aholes that post negative spit about almost everyone here.
She's a high school girl, for chrissakes, and the inside word is she is a nice, humble, genuine young lady. The outside word, is the same.

Actually, she's someone I can't root for. The restraining order was very specific about that.

She said she's in just as good shape as last year if not better.

I hope she DOES do it because everything I have read about her indicates that she is a gracious competitor and worthy of respect. That said, really who cares about 3200m? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make it a 3000m or 2-mile. The bastard child distances of 1600 and 3200 should be eliminated.
