Lydiard Sharpeners

I'm a coach, but no expert! However, given the length of the race, I'd go for the Daniels 200/200 model. 100/100 worked well for my 1600 kids this year.

I have had runners use the Lydiard sharpeners with good success. HOWEVER, they did them a few times BEFORE important races. The work of doing these can leave you flat. I would NOT recommend them as a first time workout the week before an important race. I would say a couple 800s at race pace, i.e. 2:25, with a 200 recovery would be goog. You want to go into the race rested and confident in your ability to improve on your PR.

I wouldn't do anything new this late in the season. Stick with what you have done before. Just need to keep the legs firing and familiar with pace, and some strides. The goal is to get fresh legs and maintain fitness, not to increase fitness.

I've done 50 on, 50 float. Its great for that 1500/800m speed endurance.
