Shorter thinks the guy ran 27:03, after going out in 4:07. But of course, there are no official results. We're doing a Memorial Day service right now. We'll find out the elite race results tomorrow, and we'll never know how much they made, nor what 'Ethiopian Guy"'s actual name was (remained unidentified through the cell-phone broadcasted race).

don't be a dumbass. Shoter clearly said "Tadese Tola" as the winner and only petty people care what they made.
I saw about a dozen runners wearing what looked like blindfolds. These were black headbands with a flap that pulls down over the eyes. Does anyone know what the deal with these things are? Was this blind running simulation? Seemed dangerous in that crowd.

That is one weak field, what happened to this race?
They followed through with Drug testing this year. Hence..Morroco doing so poorly. I must say Carney and Asmeron looked strong out there. Last year the same times were out of the top 10 but dirty athletes littered the field upon the announcement of no testing. this year = drug test = fewer dirty athletes = fair field IMO.
Have you the elite women also?
thanks for your opinion..now go away.

Bolder Boulder elite race is a joke. Never liked the fascist jingoistic format designed to prop up Americans. Shorter, Bosley, and Castro are jerks. Go back to the old format, you turd blossoms.

Neither of them ran well at all(compared to what they are capable of in top shape). Carney lost by 96 seconds! That's a very sub par 10k run, he's clearly not in top shape right now or anything close to it. Maybe if he lost by 96 seconds to bekele you might have some argument....
England's Freya Murray posted a time of 34.16 in the citizen's race on the same course. That would have got her 6th in the elite field and needs to be noticed.
it shouldn't be noticed because the citizen's race is much easier. totally different courses. the citizen's course is by no means easy, however, the elite course is much more difficult.
i have run < 34.20 on the citizen's course but would have had a hard time breaking 35 on the elite course.
Same course folks as of 2 years ago.
To be more clear, the citizens and elites have run the same course since last year. It's the same course the citizens field has run for many years now.

I don't know whether Shorter was among those responsible for the change in format, but I completely agree with your sentiment. I ran in the Bolder Boulder just once, twenty years ago, but it was really exciting to line up with and compete against a lot of great runners -- Olympic medalists, world record holders, and so on. There was no limit on the number of Kenyan or Mexican runners (younger runners may not realize it, but the Mexicans were as strong as anyone on the roads back then), and good runners from any country could show up without having to fit themselves into some quasi-national team. (I remember battling with a member of the Ugandan Olympic team for much of the race. What team would he be on now? Perhaps a "Pan-African" team? Or maybe the goofy "Commonwealth" team, which lumps a Tanzanian together with a Canadian? What team would an Eritrean runner be on? Would he be thrown in with the Ethiopians based on race, or could an anti-Ethiopian team be created for him based on politics?)
It's ironic that Boulder -- worldly, liberal, multicultural Boulder -- has turned a wonderfully inclusive footrace into a jingoistic, nationalistic event.
Same course now so good performance.
