It was the best of times and the worst of times. I had a great base build up over the winter (one of the best I?ve had), then slipped on ice in March breaking a rib and my wrist and consequently struggled the rest of the year to catch up. I'm really looking forward to a trouble free 2004.

It was a rough year all round with running, jobs, and relationships.
Missed many weeks of training due to anemia and other complications. Running has been going good since about October now, taking it slow and am now back running 70 miles a week. Now in my 3rd job in one year, Layed off from my first one in March, unemployed for 6 weeks, started a full time job but really disliked it, and then found current job and am doing better now.
Looking forward to 2004 much more.
I too had no injuries, but I guess that's what comes from not running. I probably broke 200 miles for the year. That makes me elite in RW's eyes. I guess you could say this year has given me a good excuse to make a New Year's resolution for next year.
I had an awesome year of mileage, hitting 4000 with a good long rest period near the end of the year. Unfortunately I only had one really good PR in there (at half marathon) that still didn't represent the great shape I was in a couple months later. I didn't race a lot as I was concentrating on training for Chicago, but got either overtrained or fell victim to some metabolic problems (still getting tests) and dropped out 2/3 through. It looks like it should be a great 2004 though as I'm entering the beginning of by training year in better shape than I usually am in March.
Beginning of 2003 was great, then came April and I got injured. All summer pretty much it was cross training and weight lifting but no running. Finally in the fall I started running again and will actually do a 2-hour run this weekend - the longest run for me in a long long time. So for now the year is ending on a positive note.
The high point of my year was when I was elected "Sergeant at Arms" at the very first meeting of Flagpole Willy's Fan Club. As you all know by now, the club dissolved shortly thereafter, but the memories live on. Good times, man, good times.

Gerald Ford,
While the club is no longer in existence, let's be clear about what happened with it - it didn't dissolve, you all GRADUATED from it. As you well know, the goal of Flagpole Willy's Fan Club was to usher you all along toward a path of self-governing. It was my hope and goal that you all would be able to rid yourselves of HAVING to have Flagpole Willy in your life as a constant guide.
That day Gerarld Ford, when I handed you your graduation certificate after you walked across the stage to the applause of your friends and family, I was certain that you had made the necessary leap the Fan Club had prepared you for. Now, as you wax poetic about your time in the club, I wonder if my perception was in error.
If you are simply being nostalgic about your time in Flagpole Willy's Fan Club, and you just remember it as a tool to get you to where you are now, then that is ok. If though you wish to go back to those days, then perhaps some more guidance on my part is required. You let me know if your state is fragile, and we'll see if we can once again beat that girlie attitude out of you - figuratively speaking of course.
If I still cannot convince you to literally beat the girly out of me the way a snivelly little man like me deserves to be beaten, then I'll take "simply being nostalgic."

Simply being nostalgic it is. Congrats.
