I've heard over and over again about Brooks Johnson's Critcal Zone. What the hell is it and why is he the one to tell us about it?

First of all Critic zone is not from Brooks alone. Critical zone is the a certain period of time in a race where the Africans accelerate and cause the greatest seperation. Example at 4k in a 5k race. That last 1k is where most Americans can't match the Africans. The Africans are able to pick the pace up while most Americans can't. Critical zone is something USATF is stressing quite a bit.
So what are the theories to combat kicking Kenyans? Kennedy tried to go with 1000 in Atlanta, but that didn't work.
Critical zone is where you think you are on the top of the mountain, but you're about ready to fall off the steep side any day. That is purely Brooks' theory.
"Critical Zone" is LetsRun.Com, where you and everything you say gets attacked.
Your dumb.

Wouldn't that be "You're dumb"?
I am in the zone, now, bum dude.
Seriously, this is where USATF and development are putting their emphasis for the distance events.
Doesn't anybody have something to say about our efforts to improve US distance running, or are this just a board of highschoolers and nerds tossing mud?
hence the word "dum"
It would seem to me, that the critical zone, as it has been defined here, is an effect that is inevitable when one runner applies his/her superior developed running capacity against one with less developed capacity. It doesn't matter if you call it, "the critical zone" or "when push comes to shove" or "putting the hammer down" or "over reaching the lactate energy system."
This would be akin to a weightlifting contest, where lifter A and lifter B can both put up 250 lbs., but only lifter A can put up 260 lbs. That's a "critical zone" - the load that differentiates the two competitors.
What's the fix? You have to increase capacity. In endurance running that means increasing among other things stamina, speed, efficiency, speed endurance, and mental toughness. What happens in the critical zone is a function of what capacity has been developed via long term training/racing program and the physical and mental talents of the individual competing.
