5.5 weeks to go:
1. Meb

3. Browne
Has Culpepper raced or been seen in public since last summer? Is he still alive?

1. Culpepper--2:11.15
2. Meb--2:11.19
3. WEJO--2:12.07
1. Culpepper - 2:11:00
2. Meb - 2:11:130
3. Wejo - 2:12:12
5. Jason - 2:14
The top two will be Meb and Culpepper. Third guy could be any number of guys who can run 2:15 and don't even have to do it on that day. There's no reason for this to be a fast race anymore.
1. Culpepper
2. Meb
3. Eddy
4. Wejo
5. Jason
top 11, teddy, lemkhuele, dowling, kevin collins, strand, verran
Is Wejo fit? Was that post about him getting third in a local 30K bogus?
1. Meb
2. Pepper
3. Eddy
1. Meb 2:09:47
2. Culpepper 2:09.57
3. Browne 2:11.40
on to Athens w/o Khannouchi
1. Culpepper 2:11
2. Meb (about 15 seconds back)
3. Hearld 2:12
4. Browne 2:13
5. Verran 2:14
That's the way I see it (I can't say for sure that all those guys are uninjured, but I think they're all good to go).
1. Culpepper
2. Meb
3. Sell
4. Dehaven
5. Verran
6. Eddy
7. Browne
8. Shay
9. Collins
10. Hearld
Today, I learned that Meb is out of the trials with injury, but Shay is going for the win outright as he does 4 times 5k under 15 minutes today with 2:30 rest! I would say that Shay is the favorite to go out hard and die, oh, that was Paris 2003. In ALB, Hellebuyck, Mitchell, Dowling, and Collins have put in some great miles and tough workouts. I would say out of those 4, two are top 5. Dowling workouted with Benoit Z. today and dropped others for 5 times 1 mile uphill! Benoit said after the workout that Keith was in 2:10-11 shape today. Then onto Clint Verran and Brian Sell who are always top 10 contenders. How is WEJO a contender for anything? I think big considerations should be given to anyone who had a big PR in 2003 in the marathon or came back to where they were a few years ago, ie, Collins, Mitchell, Hellebuyck, and Reeser. I wish everyone good luck as I will be watching with a birds eye view!!
Go Bama!
I predict Dowling will wear black, play x-box and strum his guitar.
eddy collins jason wejo
The case for WEJO rests on three things: first, he can run under 28 for 10k; second, his 2:17 pacing PR when he was not in great shape; third, and most importantly, his 1:40 for 20 miles two years ago when he was pacing DeHaven. If he's in shape, and if he stays healthy and does not overtrain in the last month, he'll be in the top three. As for Dowling's workouts, it sounds as if he's in great shape and best of luck to him, but I've been following long distance running for going on 40 years now, and my experience is that as many don't succeed because they overtrained by running too fast--especially in the weeks leading up to a race--as those who fail by not training hard enough.
