Probably could be US 3k record holder if she wanted to. Doubtful that she'll race it though.
-
Uhhh 3k AR? Nah, don't think so... Flanagan's is far too strong.

flanagan has the indoor 3k usa record at 8:33, but mary decker slaney has the outdoor usa record at 8:25 -
Regardless, a great race for Shannon. One step closer to winning a medal in Berlin in my opinion.
-
Very nice run for Shannon.
-
Ah that's right, Flanagan's is only indoors. Just saying, 4 flat 1500 speed is more than Flanagan has, and 15:12 for 5k is right up there in terms of strength, especially for someone who hasn't taken many cracks at it. I think 8:30 or so is definitely possible for Rowbury, were she to race it seriously.
-
Rowbury vs Flanagan at 3k would be a good match up and a very close race

uh no Flanagan would destroy her. Flanagan's 4:05 1500 speed is far superior to anything Rowbury has shown moving up in distance. And obviously 8:33 indoors is beastly. I'd say flanagan wins 8 out of 10 3ks, unless very slow and no one moves until the final 400m... -
Destroy her? I think NOT
-
Last year was Rowbury's first year as a pro. She ran 1500's and 1 or 2 800's all year. The 5k tonite was her season opener and her first real race moving up in distance as a pro. Ask anyone there, it was an impressive run under horrible conditions with no competition
Flanagan's PR's have all been run under good if not great conditions with great competition.
Not really a fair comparison
You are seriously underestimating Rowbury's ability at 3k. It would be a great match up -
Shannon Rowbury was pretty much running solo the last 3K with some windy conditions. She should improve that being 'Hoovered' along in a fast European (or Stanford/Pre) 5000.

Convincing win for the San Francisco treat. -
Rowbury's running form is impressive
-
whose the best over 5K......Barringer, Rowbury or Flanagan?
-
Right now, Flanagan would win the 5k. That's one of her signature distances. Barringer's training for the steeple would help her in the 5k. Rowbury has concentrated on the 1500 so the 5k is a stretch for her right now, but in another year, with the proper strength training, I believe Rowbury could be in Flanagan's league at that distance.
A more fair match up would be these three ladies at 3k. That would be a great race. -
