honestly, I have to agree with the teacher on this one. I think, if you're in class, you should be working on school stuff, whether for that class or another class. It's kind of like a gateway thing, too-if he let you watch your thing, how is he going to say no to all the other students who want to watch some special television event? The outcome of the race will be the same, regardless of whether you watch it.

just give your school a call tommorrow and tell them your not feeling good. if you are at home it does not matter, anyways the boston marathon is a big part of the usa history, the names ellison 'tarzam' brown, clarence de mar, john kelley both of them winners of the race and the elder won the race twice 10 years apart and enjoyed it so much he ran it every year for 61 years finishing 58, remember bill rodgers stopping 4 times walking taking drinks and tieing his shoe and still setting the american record, rodgers almost getting caught by jeff wells, the famous dual in the sun salazar edging beardsly, jock semple trying to remove katherine switzer physically from the race and getting blocked by switzers boyfriend, the africans starting to dominate the race and the history goes on and on, what will happen tommorrow who knows, but it adds on to the history of the race going back to 1896. witnessing history is better than reading about history. STAY HOME AND ENJOY THE RACE.

Come on dude... get with it. Tomorrow is 4/20! It is national drug/skip class day. (and no, I am not making this up) Just skip class and watch the marathon. Get a runner's high.. not a drug high. It is better for you.

In a couple of weeks nobody will remember whether you skipped a class or not. If you watch the race and it is something great you will remember it for the rest of your life.

School should be more important overall, but in terms of one single 2 1/2 hour period ask yourself which is going to give you longer-lasting memories and go with that.

Tell him you are celebrating Patriots' Day.

I am a teacher and the Track and XC coach at my school. It is killing me that I cannot watch it but I will be checking in on it when I have a spare minute.

I will be watching the entire race with YO MAMA!

Yes it 4/20 but more important it is Patriot's day. A celebration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord (The birth of our country)

I agree with the idea that you shouldn't be watching TV during a class, but at the same time, you should have work to do in that class. If you don't, then either you're bored or watching a race. The teacher was wrong to say running isn't a sport, and he's wrong to be leaving you so much extra class time.

It's a bit late now, but for future reference if there's something you really want to see or do on a school day don't be afraid to skip. I'm not condoning taking every other Friday off, but if you miss a day once every couple of months or something it really isn't a big deal. Of course your parents might not agree, but that's for you to figure out I guess.

I don't disagree with the teachers ruling, but I wouldn't say the teacher is right.

Unless you don't think running is a sport and you, and everyone else on this site, doesn't actually care.

Then maybe the teacher would be right.

Running is a sport but remember some sports the athletes have balls, and other sports the athletes just play with them

I think this thread has gotten a bit off track. The original poster evidently has a hot older lady for a teacher. Commonly referred to as MILFS or GILFS these mature and more experienced women can rock a guy's world. I say cozy up to this old broad and see where it takes you.

Oh, and if you want to watch a marathon or do something else other class just don't go to class. Pretty simple.
