Just brutal ! How many guys run 2:04 and don't win ? Furthermore, the guy in second does not even know enough to run out to the side, so at least he gets his photo and exposure. The dumb-ass runs directly behind the winner and you can't even see him!
I don't blame him. I never look my best either after 26 sub 5 minute miles.

Similar situation with El Guerrouj running his 3:43.13. Noah Ngeny also ran 3:43.xx, and under the world record but gets second...and the shaft.

When Stephen Ovett set a 1500m WR in 1980, Harald Hudak of Germany also went under the old WR. But Hudak was only 3rd in that race. He didn't even get the NR of Germany (which still stands as of today btw), as Thomas Wessinghage was 2nd.

Two, out of the 5 who have gone sub 205
John Walker was under the 1500 world record when he lost to Filbert Bayi back in the 70's. The race represented a shift away from the slow-3-laps-then-kick-at-the-end strategy.

If you watch the video, Kibet made the pass and then cut back in front of Kwambai who ran a straight line to the finish.

hey you do not call Dumb-ass!! could you have run 2:04:27 and run side by side with those guys? Or could even pace even 5km? They are among the 5 athletes to break 2:05.
That's funny. Dean K always wins races by not being the fastest.
I thought they were all winners just by having the courage to start.
