i run my first meet in 2 yrs this weekend and i have orthotics for training. should i wear these in my spikes? or would i be better off not to?

If you train with them in your spikes, then yes. If not, then no.
Don't wear them. They're probably heavy. Even if it's a long 5k/10k race, not wearing them will only damage your foot a little and it will heal.

That's not a very good answer.
Orthotics are meant to correct biomechanical issues of the lower leg. In correcting these issues this may lead to a more efficient stride. This would of course mean faster times. Although the weight of the orthotics over a 5,000 to 10,000m race will negatively effect performance, the increased efficiency may make up for it.
