holy cow!
holy cow!
What if he has a heart attack later in life like Jim Fixx?
Unbelievable! The heart of a Lion!
First, Rupp's performance was amazing. One of the most enjoyable races I have ever watched. He showed great courage and speed over that last 400;it was extremely impressive. Secondly, the GAY comments aren't funny anymore. The idiotic posters like yourself have killed it long ago.
I was amazed how he held that speed for that last 400! Wow!
wow, everyone is talking about how awesome rupp did... Im so pissed i missed it... any way to watch it online now?
I'm sure it will be cast on the TV segment, the commentators were pretty fired up.
I wouldn't care if I looked like Liberace if I won 2 NCAA championships in one night.

"only to scratch and take away someone else's chance to run in the finals." They should've run faster, it's not like they would've made top 3.
Seriously, there is no longer any question about it. I doubted his potential for a long time, but no doubt is left...Rupp is the MAN on the boards and on the track and on the XC course. Huge victories for Rupp tonight to go with his XC championship and string of records. Kudos to Galen Rupp...he is the future of American distance running and let's all hope that Fernandez is watching and will take a breath...he has a long future too, but only if he will back off a little and not burn out.
Anybody would show a lot of heart when some under-the-table Nike money is on the line.

shut the f*** up dude.
like seriously im sick of all the rupp haters. GET A LIFE. the guy is amazing but somehow people still manage to hate on him even when he pulls off amazing feats.
I'm withholding judgment until I see the 3000.
Just his sexuality
the word on the street is PED.
If you stopped whining about everyone making fun of him, people would probably stop doing it sooner or later. Its like teaching 5 year olds how to stop getting picked on. As soon as you stop reacting, the teasing will stop...
Stupidho, you have the first six letters right, and now we know your IP. Jealous little bitch.
For the past several years I have questioned Rupp's motivation for staying on the team, and his ability to race rather than time trial. That all changed after hearing that he'd offered to double, at the possible expense of today's race, and then watching the race last night.
Only thing I question now is, why didn't he kick Acosta in the nuts for his celebration?
I've always been a Rupp supporter, so perhaps I have a different view than others, but as time goes on the tired gay, Nike etc. comments just seem more petty and pathetic. He doesn't have to be your favorite runner, but the fact is a lot of the stuff he has taken crap for (not winning, not caring about the UofO team etc.) has been shot down. There comes a point where I don't care if a guy runs on an anti-gravity treadmill, etc.. I have to take my hat off to his performance, and say if that's the result of the training methods, he should stick with what works.
What was your first clue? Asthma? or hypothyroidism? or both? What's diguised in the soup?
its not THAT a bunch of people talk about how awesome rupp is, its HOW they say it.
"no one can EVER question rupp's heart again!"
that to me just sound really dumb, what are you the indian kid in captain planet?
my favorite runner is billy mills but i am never gunna say, "god, billy mills has so much heart!" that would make me sound like i want to kiss him on the mouth. which i dont
ok i dont really like rupp but ill be the first to admit he is a amazing runner.
but he really should not be competing for the NCAA.
he doesnt live in eugene!(how he gets away with this i have no idea)
he has his own coach
he doesnt train with oregon
he was pro out of high school
he is a wuss when it comes to xc courses
he time trialed the 5k at Oly trials, ruining the trails for some people who deserved to be there(by far the worst of all of these!)
I agree that Rupp's achievements are dampered just a little - they're still incredible, don't get me wrong - by the fact that he's a 5th year senior and probably not taking more than one class, making him essentially a pro.
But I fundamentally disagree with all the griping about him time trialing the Trials last year. If you qualify for the race, you can do whatever you want. If the guy who missed Finals because Rupp scratched deserved to be in the Finals, he would have beaten one more guy. If a guy qualifies for the Trials, then runs it as a practice for the Africans, putting in surges periodically and screwing up the pace of the race/toying with the guys in the field, fine. If he wants to have his teammate who also qualified rabbit him in an American Record attempt just for the hell of it, awesome! Rupp earned his spot in the Trials, then earned his spot in the Final. What he did with those spots was a matter of doing what was best for him. He earned that right.
Rupp is the best American distance runner right now. Period. In my opinion obviously, but he's the best. Better than Webb, better than Ritz, better than Hall.
