Look at the price of some of those trick racing flats. I can' t buy them and pay rent. I already found a way to save money on lunch. I just make myself a sandwich at the super grocerie center, then walk out. Should I take a bus to a far away sports store , try on the shoes for a test run, and just go home?

Often life faces us with making a choice between evils. For example, movie theaters don't allow you to bring in snacks, yet they charge 4.75 for Twix. Your evil (breaking rules and depriving them of income) pales in comparison to their usury. Likewise, a guy may get on your nerves or try to hit on your girlfriend, which is bad. You would then be justified, in my opinion, to plant pot in his backpack and turn him in for an anonymous reward, thus getting rid of your problem and making a few bucks. So what I'm saying is this: You are special, and normal rules of conduct should not apply to you. The ends justify the means. Your desires are the center of your existence, perhaps even the whole universe. So steal those shoes, brother.
Absolutely. You should steal anything that isn't nailed down.
Not from a specialty running store. They are fellow runners who need support from the running community in order to provide their services. Steal from the chain store bastards. Not Foot Locker because they support HS nationals. Anyone else is cool though. Or just try to find cheap shoes on-line. Or get in real good with a college team, they have a ton just sitting around and some coaches are nice about 'accidently' leaving a pair in your size on the track and if they disappear then no one is hurt.
I suggest that you instead turn your energies toward studying and making friends with wealthy and powerful connections. Then you can become a captain of industry (like maybe the CEO of Tyco) and steal the stockholders blind. Imagine, several thousand $ for a shower curtain or some hangers. That's got to be a LOT more fun than stealing a pair of shoes from some local Joe. Besides, if you're caught they won't even send to real prison. They'll send you to rich guy prison where you can play golf in the morning and have wine with dinner instead of working in the laundry and snorting detergent at night.

If not, then consider how you'd feel if someone came into your home/apt. and took, without your consent or knowledge, several things that we're of value to you. Would it please you to be held up and robbed of your wallet & money?
Bottom line: treat others the way you'd like to be treated.
If everyone acted like you (egotistically ? creating hardship for others and dissolving the basis for trust), we'd be up shit creek.
What goes around comes around. Your actions will catch up to you ? if not in the form of getting caught and punished, then in your ability to form any kind of long-term, meaningful friendship with others. My guess is that there's already a problem there.
Sure, rip them off then wear them to a race and bandit it. Could probably break into a few cars on the way home before calling it a day!
Download the next ten albums you were thinking of buying for free off the net, then use the money you saved to buy some shoes.

Thank you posters. I now have a brand new pair of asics ds racers. they feel pretty good. Unfortunately my old trainers with 500 miles on them were lost in the transaction. I have been reading about off season cross training , but I don't have a bike. Lots of rich kids at the local university using thousand dollar mountain bikes with 2 dollar locks. I'll get some lunch at 7/11 ( pre-made sandwiches) then head over to the university with my trusty chain cutters.
thats what i do get to pairs of shoes for like $60. Fuck payin full price.
Steal the shoes....those shoes were made from slave labor...im sure you stealing them is not as bad as companies getting rich off paying measly cents to the workers who make them.

Now that I have the shoes , I need a better rain jacket for the winter. I was thinking about putting the shoes on ebay, selling them to multiple people, then keep the cash and the shoes. will this work?
