Crouch will have an advantage, as he goes into the race fresh. Just like kangaroo last year. Remember he was 3rd in the fall.

He reminds me of Franklin Sanchez, but he is a bit faster. I wonder if his career will last longer; I hope so.

You know what I agree with this guy fully. WSC will never run the way they have in the past and it is due in large part to their coaching. Its not because the current staff doesn't lack the knowledge to produce good athletes, but because the current staff doesn't have the ability to inspire their runners to devote their energy to the sport. WSC track/xc has become an intermural sport where runners just show up to stay "in shape" rather than to dominate their opponents as they did in the past. You are talking about a school that almost won DII Indoors in just 2 events and now they can barely qualify 2 runners in 3 distance events. Without an indoor facility for the sprinters to train on it will always prove difficult to send a runner to the championships in the sprints, but they have proven they can win distance races without it. Bottom line is the coaching staff up there is weak. But since this is not a forum dedicated to bashing WSC I will shift gears.

Braun will win whatever race(s) he and Coach Martin decide to put him in. He comes into the championships with top 3 times in both the mile and the 5k. The championships will be slow and tactical (4:06/14:10) which play right into his hand with no prelim for the 5k. Based off his times he is definately fit enough to handle the workload that the double requires. Fresh or not there won't be another runner that will touch Braun. If the guys at Adams are smart they will try to control the race from the gun by placing all of their runners to the front and alternating the work setting the pace until the final 1000m and then Braun and Medigovich should take control and may the better runner cross the line first (as seen by WSC in 2003). If they are able to do that not only will a guy from ASC win but they will easily put every runner in the race wearing an ASC jersey on the podium.

Conference Championships are important races, but if your sights are set on winning an NCAA title then it is a meet that you train through. it is a matter of prioritizing which race is most important to you. A lot of people place a lot of stock in doing well at their conference and then get their bell rung at the bigger race. The quality of competition at NCAA vs Conference is like night and day regardless of the conference you represent. So I personally wouldn't read too indepth into the performance of ASC at the RMAC Championships.

Just wanted to say congrats to the Mines crew for the impressive performance in the DMR. Nothing beats hard work, dedication, and great coaching. Congrats fellas and Coach Siemers. You all earned it.

I'll go with the "Blonde Barbie" Crouch (Queens)

It has been a long time since Western has had an individual distance national champion. They used to have athletes in the top 3 quite frequently in the distance. They never had great depth, but always individual champions. Now they are still ok but they no longer command fear or even much respect on the track. They are a mediocre good program and Adams is now dominate in the distances.

Adams State and St. Aug's are locked into a TIGHT battle for the team national title.

After the Mile and 400:

Adams State 57, St. Aug's 53 - with this remaining:

St. Aug's has 2 guys in the 60 final

St. Aug's has 1 guy in the 60 hurdle final

St. Aug's has 3 guys in the 200 final

St. Aug's has a 4x400 team in the final

Adams State has 2 guys in the 800 final

Adams State has 4 guys (3 raced the mile earlier) in the 5000 final

Adams State needs a slip up from the St. Aug's sprint squad and clutch performances in the 800, 5000

St. Aug's comes up big just now in the 60 dash finishing 2nd and 3rd ... you can see the intensity picking up for the team battle.

St. Aug's now leads 67 to Adams State 57

Adams State goes 2, 8 in the 800.

St. Aug's 67 to Adams State 66

St. Aug's still has a 60 meter hurdle runner, 3 200 guys, and a 4x400 team

Adams State has 4 guys in the 5000

It looks like ASC will need St. Aug's to slip up in a major way in the 200 to even have a chance.
