I know that his coach and he are really secretive about their training, but surely someone has some insight as to what is going wrong.
He ran 4:03 mile a week or two ago and now he runs 3:45 for 1500.
Has he lowered his mileage?
Are the fast food rumors true (hopefully, that wouldn't affect him that much)?
Could it be that he is fatigued and needs a few weeks off that he never took after running the American record for the mile?
Could it be something that we don't even understand?
Dude, he had somewhat of an off year last year. He typically does not run indoor season, so I'd say give him a break until the end of outdoor to suggest something is wrong with him.
I'm willing to bet that he'll be rolling again this summer.

He has run a 3:57 mile this season. It may look bad that he got beat pretty convincingly by Willis in that race, but his indoor pr is only 2 seconds faster, 3:55 in 2007- the year he ran his AR in the mile.
Maybe he should quit running on concrete?

Actually, his 3:45 is significant in showing that he's coming around.
In his race against Willis and others (lukezic included) he got pasted when it came to the kick.
Yesterday, he kicked well, nearly won and soundly defeated several known kickers (Boylan-Pett, Sherer both have nasty kicks).
I would say he has actually progressed quite a bit throughout the indoor season.
I don't think he cares too much about the indoor season. Then when he runs some fast times outdoors all the jealous vultures will be poised, waiting for him to lose or just have a poor race.

Are you joking? Webb is the most well rested professional runner on the planet. He took off 6 weeks after the summer season.
What Webb needs to do is so utterly simple, yet he and Razcko keep complicating things - get back to basics. Run. Run some more and then keep running. Cut out those 4 hour plyo and weights sessions. Eat less food. Lose the bulk. Get skinny like an Ethiopian.
If he does that, he'll be the 3:27/7:22/12:45 runner that we all know he is capable of becoming.
He'll be back, he's too young to be done.

Maybe he's exhausted what he can do for the mile. He's got the American record but maybe he's in the same situation Ryan Hall was in and it's time to move up. Probably not the marathon but the 5k/10k.

I think he has the anti-samson going on. He needs to lose the hair plugs (too late I know) and stop thinking about stuff so much. Pound out the miles and find the killer instinct once again. He has seemed to be somewhat complacent after the AR. You gotta "Come to Compete." He'll be better when he decides to get that way.

Sounds like he should hire Apollo Creed.
if he was running quick during indoors, he would be getting grief! (e.g. Webb is doing far too much speed to early)
Hopefully he is running a lot of these races off base training and is only using indoors as a warm up for outdoors.
