???
that's it?
no need to worry, he probably trained very hard through this race, did anyone challenge him even tokenly today? his half marathon in 2 weeks should be a better indicator of his fitness. and 7 weeks from monday for his main event.
This is from the guy who was streaming the video, "Ryan said he actually felt pretty good out on the course. Unofficially 43:27. He seemed to fall off record pace at around 3 miles in giving some back every mile thereafter. He split 4:32 then 4:36 for the first 2. He has some big races coming up so this will be a good indication of his fitness is. Weather was great but he ran all by himself which makes it tough." http://fl.milesplit.us/forums/Florida/topics/57148
60 ish temp, sunny, light breeze.
at turn around he was 2:05 ahead of 2nd and 3rd. At finish Hall, and no-one for a very long time.
I was riding my bike along him for the second half. Good fun.
BTW a 14 yr old kid ran about 55 min.

Not a very good run to be honest , maybe tired or maybe just one to many marathons to close to each other , he will get crushed if he runs his half marathon with this type of effort , not to smart to running in Europe , (travel) prior to a big marathon effort , thats the agent getting $$ , not thinking whats best for the Ryan.

say something constructive or go go bother some other website. "you're a dope to be honest". Why? You don't offer any reason, just a childish insult. Moron. There, you dragged me into your pathetic world....
Badnews hit the nail on the head, regardless of how unpolitically correct he delivered the message. I'm a huge Ryan Hall fan, but this was not one of his best showing by far.
Hope this is a sign that he's able to run fast while training through to the goal race in Boston.

You're an idiot. This is exactly where he was in training for London last year.

Did he win?
This is just training run time for the Kenyans.
The post-race videos are up.http://www.flotrack.org/videos/coverage/view_video/234721-2009-publix-super-markets-gasparilla-distance-classic-15k/156326-ryan-hall-after-gasparilla
Spot on , he ran fast@London , paced , super fast course , made a brave effort we all cheered on.
We all like Ryan.
His formula seems to be off for the levels he wants to compete at. Doing what he did last year will not get him ready for a very tough Boston ,nothing like London course.
He stated he wanted a record run at Gasp. , that in most cases means running alone at the front. ( as he did with the Houston 1/2 )Just running through a race is different than going for the record.
Why so slow?
This is a more or less out and back course along the bayshore, with the sun in your face coming back. There were not very many spectators along. An older gentleman around the turn around point asked me what is the deal, did the one guy up front start separately, because he has never seen in these race anything like this. First runner goes by and there is no sign of anyone else.
On the way back Hall started to get lots of " Go Ryan!" from the slower runners going out.
This race was a lot of fun, as it answered two questions I had. I was always curious how fast does it feel to go along with elite on a bike (its a not too hard, but definitely have to constantly pedal). I was also curious how would it look if an elite showed up to run an a race with merely mortals. It's a very long gap between them.
43:27 is right on the money where Hall needs to be. It's just February, and he has 6-7 good weeks of training to go.
I would say if Hall went 42:30 he'd be over the edge by the time Boston came around.
If you recall Hall ran 44:01 at the Gate River Run in 2007 then went on to run 2:08.24 on his marathon debut at London. The fact that he ran 40 secs faster, solo, 2 weeks earlier in the year tells me that Hall will be in 2:06/2:07 shape by the time Boston comes around, which will put him in with a chance of winning the thing.
Remember the important race is at Boston. It seems that many of these 80s and 90s runners ran their best races in these 15k events because very few on that US list actually ran anywhere close to what Hall can run for a marathon
Ryan...
needs to take break from marathon training for a while...i am worried he is gong to beat himself up running too many marathons per year especially if he is going to make it to 2012.....
At his current pace of running marathons 2 per year he will have raced 6 more before the Olympic trials then another at the Olympic games - a total of 8. ....
he should focus on cross country next fall and winter and try to get some leg speed back for a good spring/summer track season. he will build on his leg power...cardiovascular capacity....and not do so much mileage as required by marathon training....then in 2011 he come back like Haile.
