Lance. No-brainer. Triathlons are structured to favor the cyclist (at least iron man and 70.3 mile races are). Plus he takes drugs.
Why would you chose Bekele to run the marathon?
Haile Gebreselassie?
I think the former triathlete would win it.
I was going to say... Lance started his career as a national champion triathlete. Somehow I doubt he would lose.
Plus, the bike is by far the longest section, which would give him that much more time to build a huge lead going into the run. And since his relatively recent foray into running has no doubt improved his ability to close relatively well, he would win by leaps and bounds.
Olympic Distance= 10K run

Thank you for specifying what type of triathlon.

You're welcome. I noted the sarcasm and respond by saying: Who the eff does an IronMan? You think you'd get bekele, phelps OR armstrong out there for an IronMan??? No way.
This is a stupid question since Lance was a very good Triathlete before focusing on Cycling.
If they did it tomorrow then Lance would probably swim 24, ride 51, run 35-36 off the bike. Remember Lance was a world class triathlete before concentrating on the bike. He still swims and has banged out a few competent marathon times recently. He also is talking about doing the Hawaiian Ironman this year.
Phelps would swim 15 -16 (depending on his fitness, probably ride 70-80mins then run 40plus off the bike.
Bekele would at very best swim 30-35mins, ride 70-80 mins and get off the bike and probably run low 31mins after exhausting himself in the first 2 disciplines.
Give them 2 months specific training and this would be the result IMHO.
Swim Phelps -15m
Armstrong -22m
Bekele -32m
Bike Armstrong -51m
Phelps -65m
Bekele -65m
given Lance's experience he would also be quicker through transition.
Run Bekele -29m
Armstrong -35m
Phelps -38m.
So Lance would beat Phelps by 10 mins, Bekele would finish another 8 min behind Phelps.
Presuming Bekele has some basic cycling ability i emagine he would put phelps away on the bike, he has great leg caidance, endurance, and is a lot lighter than Phelps, which i think helps in cycling?
Agree that Bekele would come last though, he would lose far to much time in the swim
oh and theres no way bekele would run 31 minutes, that is stupidly slow for someone of his class. He would run low 29 at least.
Webb would win. Close to Phelps, on the swim; wouldn't let Armstrong do much more than catch up, on the bike; then run two or three minutes faster (than Armstrong) on the 10k.
I doubt he'd finish the swim so no need to argue whether he would run 31.
False. Webb wins.
Oh wait ... Webb sets American Record in time trial prepping for race, but doesn't show up on race day.
So yeah, Lance.
