I have a really short choppy stride and I have work on flexibility to try to improve, but really hasn't worked. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on how I could improve.

There might not be anything wrong with your short stride. It worked for Salazar and Jennings. You could try hill bounding. Good luck.
As I've already discussed in a previous thread, stride length is determined by how much force is applied to the ground at toe off. Essentially, the longer you stay in the air, the longer your stride will be. Lengthening your stride, therefore, is directly related to the strength of the extensors of the hip, knee and ankle. Work on strengthening those areas.
Measure your max running stride ie. your stride at top speed. If it's any lower than about 1.35x-1.40x your standing height, you might have to work on lengthening it. Do this and get back to me.
