Ulrey 3k......Holy Crap!

Fernandez is going to run 7:40 this year.

This kid is going to be one of the next big runners for USA in the coming years. He's only a junior and he's running very well. He's also improving a ton each year. This guy could be running 3:50/7:40 in another year or two, which would be very exciting for him and America. He could also stagnate and not run any faster, but I think the former is much more likely.

Wow, some killer performances in there.

The thing I like about Ulrey is that he is a tough, fearless competitor who straight up goes for it.

that really just seems in line with what he should do after his last two races. Actually, I would think he could be a few seconds faster if he really pushes it. i don't know how this race unfolded.

College guys did great this meet!! They are a little sharper than the Pro's right now. From the entry list Pifer is signed up for the 12k next week for XC trials, I bet he trained through this meet and used it as a sharpener. Torrence and Burrell did great as well. All of them just aren't quite ready to pop a big one yet. Congrats to all!

After a 3:55 1600 last night

Let's see. 3:55 1600 with running start and pacers ahead of you the whole way equals a 3:57/8 mile from a standstill in an actual race. Then an entire day later, he runs a 7:50.9 3k, which equals, what, about an 8:30 deuce? What did German run last year ALL BY HIMSELF AS A 17 Y.O. ? 4:01 mile converted and then TWO HOURS later an 8:37 deuce?? German's performance last year in HS was at least as good. If he ran with college competition, he could have run a 3:58 and then a day later ran an 8:30. Think about it. 2 hours after a 4:00 mile an 8:37 deuce? By himself.

German could have done the double Ulrey just did....last year as a 17 yo hs kid.

Ulrey is Kenyan, his cousin is Isaac Songock.

I missed the part where ulrey was being compared to fernandez? none the less good run by Dorian. bunch of fan boys wanting to give german a bj up in here....

ulrey is probably nowhere near peaked like german was, and a 750 3k is alot more like an 820 deuce than an 830.

I'm a big German fan and all, believe me, but comments like this take away from the great performances like this. Ulrey really showed his stuff this last weekend (Phenomenal)

no.. its like a 825 for a FULL two miles.. which is around 822 for the 3200 which german ran

He's from Illinois, but was at Northern Iowa last year.

It's not like he came out of nowhere though, he ran 3:42 or 3:41 as a freshman and was 2nd at Nats in the 1500 as a sophomore last year...

Thanks. I guess gettting Ulray and the McClory twins kind of makes up for Vasquez, Cormier and Barnicle not working out from the "big" recruiting classes that McDonnell put together years ago.
