Boycott Under Armour

Who says Under Armor isn't going to get involved in the running scene?

Perhaps you could form an argument that makes some sense before asking everyone to boycott a company. What part of capitalism do you not like?

Under Armour is huge in middle america.

Dicks Sporting Goods and Cabelas are good representations of it.

"I know these things" I think you have lost too many brain cells. You make no sense. I hope they make an awesome running shoe and pay our top American runners hundred's of thousands of dollars. You think Nike is looking out for runners? You think Adidas is looking out for runners. You certainly have no idea how much money Nike and Adidas make off the football and basketball crap. You have no idea how much the top NCAA football coaches get paid by Nike and Adidas. Compare that to how much they pay the NCAA's top T&F coaches. A VERY select few T&F coaches don't even get close to $100,000 from them. Meanwhile football coaches are getting anywhere from $200,000 to $1 million in Nike or Adidas endorsments PLUS their college contract with their school.

Their shoes are out there already. It's up to everyone to get the product they want. I think there is probably room for another supplier after all; I didn't get them. Also, for the first time, I saw some Pearl Izumi running shoes, like isn't that a bicycling clothing/shoe kind of company too? But what can I say, they were the same kind of runners like my own, established brand shoes.

Under Armour was a big sponsor at the Houston Marathon. They outfitted the pacers and paid for major space at the expo. Reebok is bowing out of running because their products never caught on. Brooks and Saucony can't forget about running because that is just about all they do. Maybe if runners go out and support Under Armour, they will make more money and become a big sponsor of elite running.

as for getting involved, who cares? more competition will hopefully mean lower prices. i paid 140 dollars for shoes yesterday (well, before discounts) that a few years ago were in the 90's. i wouldn't mind seeing that come back down.

jesus christ, i could think of about 1000 other reasons to boycott a company. let's see, we should boycott one borderline slave labor / sweatshop company for another - ha!

Alright I digress. I'm not gonna lie you have changed the way I think. I'm not going to say I support UA, but I will say that it true that this is the spirit of capitalism. And more importantly there is the chance the UA could become a useful running company...

There is nothing like a good 12 mile run on the concrete wearing Asics Gel-Nibmus 10s, baggy Nike shorts, and a tight Under Armor Top. That is the way life should be.

We could boycott them because they pulled out a sponsorship deal with the Cubs. Oh wait, that's just amusing, not a good reason.

I have known about Under Armour's intent to come out with running shoes. But seeing the commercials now on TV I am a little pissed off. At a time when we hear about reebok cutting running, under armour thinks it can upgrade to running shoes.

I think as runners we should do our best to boycott even Under Armour apparel. If we don't we might see good running companies like brooks, saucony, and who knows maybe adidas will forget about running. With the way the economy is now, anything could happen.

So support the companies that have supported running and elite runners for years...

If UA determines what others so in the running game then maybe it is a game they should stop playing. If a company is doing something better than you, regroup and make YOUR product better. Dont blame UA for other companies going out of the running business. That is just silly.

To put it simply, the best running gear I have ever owned comes from UA. It gives the same quality as Nike gear for about $10 - $15 less cost. Why wouldn't everyone wear it? But the big thing to remember is the dumbest thing anyone can do is buy shoes based off of the name. Buy the shoe that works with your mechanics and wear it! I don't care if its made by Brooks, Nike, UA, or even TIVA. If it works, wear it. Don't mess around when it comes to shoes.

Also, Asics does pretty well in the running market for a company that started exclusively for wrestling... talk about as far from running shoes as you can get...
