1500: 3:26.00
Indoor 1500: 3:31.18
Mile: 3:43.13
Indoor Mile: 3:48.45
2000: 4:44.79
1500: 3:26.00
Indoor 1500: 3:31.18
Mile: 3:43.13
Indoor Mile: 3:48.45
2000: 4:44.79
I think it's a pretty tough call between the mile and 1500 marks, but I'm gonna go with the 15.
3:26 flat is INTENSE.
It's a real toss up to me but I'm going to say the 2000. 3:49.16 then another 390 metres at the same pace, by gawd.
I am most impressed that he sub sub 3:30 more than 30 times in his career.
I gotta go with with 2000m as well. IF you watch that video on youtube it is insane.
Considering he only beats Lagat's PR in the 1500 by about .1, I'd have to say his 2k is the best. That's just insane.
2k ~ one of the sickest performances in any sport. His splits are numbing!
Think the 1500 and 2000 are equally awesome, but I tend to take a lot of the middle/long distance times set in the late '90's with a heap of salt due to no reliable test for EPO!
There was such a seismic jump in the rate of evolution during this period and a subsequent failure by the majority to live up to these times in the last 4 years, that it all seems a little unbelievable.
1. 3:26.00
2. 4:44.79
3. 3:43.13
All are very close... to give an idea I think the 3:26 translates into a 3:42.6. And I think the 2000m is somewhere in the middle. El G gave several attempts to break the 1500m record, but always came up short.
that 2k is insane!!!! id say that is the most impessive

when you put it that way, I'd have to agree to that as well. 3:43 is smoking fast, but 3:49 and then another lap? That's insance and just goes to show what a mind-blowing combination of speed, strenght, and endurance he had.
2k is definitely the most impressive. As Steve Cram puts it, a 3:44 mile with a 60 second lap on the back of that.
3:26.00 is incredible, especially considering he closed in 53.5...
I think the most impressive thing about El G is his consistancy-out of the top 37 1500m times ever ran, he has well over half of them(21), and 7 of the top 8. A bad race for him was a 3:29. 4:44 for 2k is pretty insane as well. He broke Morceli's 1500 record and mile record by about 1-1.5 seconds each, but he broke that 2k record by an astonishing 3 seconds.
However, I think his 3:27 Olympic Record is the most impressive of all.

I don't think that's good pacing.

Sorry, let me clarify.

Hard to say as they're all great. The 2000m is probably the best because it's a rarely run distance. It comes out to 56.96 seconds a lap, so that's 3:33 through 1500, ~3:49 through 1 mile... Few milers can even run 3:49, let alone do it on pace in a 2000m.
I feel the 1500 and mile are very close. Lagat has run 3:26.2 (right?), but Noah Ngeny was right behind him in the mile too. El G was actually pushed the last lap during his 3:43, so that might be better.
The indoor records are soft.

Let me clarify then: 3:27 is NOT the Olympic Record.
Whoops, good point. World Championship record then. Either way, it's my pick. To run that fast without official rabbits while easing up in a championship is pretty crazy.
you need to clarify some more haha. that is not the olympic record. I see your mistake, but will not correct it for you.
