Looks like G. Fernandez might be ready to get up and roll again. I guess he must be back into decent shape. What a relief to know he won't be debilitated for an entire season. He was injured in high school though pretty badly and was stil able to come back and set american records, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

i bet he'll break 4mins
-
ALLLLLLLRIGHT!
-
he has started up intervals the past 2 weeks, this week he did 12x400 @ 63, last week he did 5x1 mile @ 4:25 , i'll say he is ready for a good race, during his time injured he was in the pool or on the bike every single day.
-
How does this kid do it? Where does he get his incredible base from? Its mind-boggling.
-
sub 4:00, no sweat for him. He may need to run a 3000 afterwords just to keep him motivated.
-
He gets his base at Filene's Basement. You can get some in their liquidation sale.

I heard he gets his incredible base from a fella named Ray-Bo on 79th St. -
He is also on the start list for Junior XC nationals on Feb 7th.

OP, Fernandez hasn't set any American records.
-
German is back!!! he will destroy this field of wannabee's. I bet German wins by 10 meters, and runs an easy walk in the park of 3:56.
I told you guys, but NO, you didn't want to listen.
German Rocks!!! -

Yes, he has. -
This is not exactly a bunch of "wannabee's"
Summerside has wheels, Boit is no joke, and the 'Bama boys are high quality imports. -
Just an incredibly efficient runner, able to suck more oxygen in while burning less than anyone else in the sport.

He's good, but Bekele would still lap him in a 10k. -

I'm nobody and was nowhere near as talented as this kid but for reference I ran 13:38 and 28:30 years ago and I could maybe at my best fitness do 4 times 1600 in 4:25 with a 3 minute recovery. A fifth one would have been a warmup in 4:35.
Is German eligible to break American Junior Record this spring? Rudy Chapa's 10,000 record was one I never thought would be broken. If Fernandez is this fit after taking a month plus off, damn! -
Chapa's record is already gone
