Our university has been raising money for awhile to get a track at our school. How much does it cost for a standard track as opposed to a 400m mondo track?

also, how does mondo hold up opposed to other track surfaces?
You didn't know this before you started raising money?
Define standard. Non-mondo, all-weather surface, or some old-school cinders?
Obama will pay for it. Stop raising money.
standard = all weather track that nearly every high school has. i dont know how much it costs as im just a runner on the team..
That idiot is going to try to tax us into prosperity (by the way this has never worked before). You are probably right. We'll have a bunch of former auto workers making tracks.
one thousand dollars
State-qualifying, 8-lane, quarter-mile (or metrical equivalent) track with modern, synthetic composite surface is between $600k and $800k. The wide variance depends on what the new track is replacing, soil compaction, adequate drainage, ancillary supporting structures, etc.
Straight "resurfacing" would, of course, be much less.
That said, it's rare to replace just the track--upgrading teh entire facility (to include the enclosed playing fields), is likely to run $2MM-$3MM.
Oh: track should last 10-15 years, if you take care of it.
I remember my coach telling me in HS of that a nearby college's track cost 1.2 million dollars. It was mondo and lanes alternating blue and gold. Nice track, but that's a lotta dough.
Do a little public record searching on google. These tracks are bidded out and several were built in last couple of years. Here's a couple of quick examples:
1. Asphalt 6-lane track, complete including labor: $430,000 (2008)
2. 8-lane track with Discus/Shot & HJ area and LJ, TJ lanes w/ Mondo 12mm SuperX from scratch on existing grass field near campus: $1.1 million (2007)
man it would be cool wrote:
I wish my school's track had an HJ area, that would be way more convenient than sneaking around the school
