Shut the f$#% up. At least he has the balls to sign his name. You don't, you chicken shit. They know where to find him. Go back to your anonymous hellhole.

enough said.
Despite all the vitriol and posturing, this situation shows that a team can't really succeed longterm without some serious cash behind it.
BAA can field a successful (regional) team because they have a bit of the boston marathon budget behind them. So, if you're a young new england runner, BAA is the logical choice if you want the free shoes, uniform, etc...
Otherwise, and without consistent year-to-year funding, teams rise and fall. (anyone remember the BRC?) There'll be the infrequent leader who fronts his own money then become disatisfied with his investment. (this seems to be the case with AE) Then there'll be a few dedicated but perhaps misguided souls who try to put together the team "house" only to realize that even if one or two do make it to the next level, they're still going to get their butts kicked by the Africans.
Forget running the next level, live the American dream, make money and grow fat!
let's just get to it already..... who are some of the men that are a part of athletics east? i know a few guys from my college team (uri) who are down with them but i wanna know who else is in with them. just wanna see what the talent level looks like.
thanks.
Who are you addressing in this manifesto? I have to say, Travis, that this is a very hypocritical letter. You tear into people for posting on this board about personal matters, yet you come on here and do the same thing. I have always posted under the same name. You can read my comments I made earlier on the first page about people posting personal information about this issue. I was against it and I stated so.
If some of the individuals feel that they need to bash Dave on this message board, so be it. They are not posting their name, thus we cannot confirm with complete certainty that these are former AE athletes doing this. A lot of people from the area do not like Dave nor agree with his philosophies--it could be anyone posting. It is not just AE athletes.
You also made some menacing comments: "some of you were just too sheepish to come to Boston to train. COWARDS!" Some of the team members are coaches and teachers in other states. So they are "cowards" for devoting their time to others outside the Boston area?
The original poster has made repeated attempts to direct the posts toward starting a new team and not trashing his former coach. For this he should be commended.
I agree that some of the posts on here are useless and make us look like asses--especially the ones blatantly making fun of Dave. That is that individual's right though.
All in all, I am disappointed with your comments. You sound like Dave--his way is the only way--I hope that is not the type of person you are. I suggest you call out people directly the next time you post instead of generalizing the group and assuming so much. No hard feelings.
JB
Here's the AE 3rd place finish results from the USATFNE 5 mile championship:

Hey, why don't we just put this to rest. The thread has served its purpose, and is now just becoming trash. I saw that this somehow made it back to page 1 after being gone for a few days. If people want to know the dirt of the story, hook up with one of us at a meet this indoors, but I don't want to start spraying shit and starting wars over message boards.
I also don't want to mention the names in the group I was originally talking about. Its not really important and don't want to get into personal discussions.
I do want to thank everyone who contacted us personally though, as well as some of the usefull info that popped up here. Its been a big help. Boston has a strong running community and it did show us that there are plenty of other options. Laters...
Hey remember the eighties??? Hey f*** that. Star Wars was cool, but lets live in the now. I'm with you George. You are only as good as your next race. A good coach saves his bull shit for drinking, not coaching. I am one of these AE bastards, and I "believe" that there is a good fit for us out there. So who will step up for the challenge?
