Averaged high 2:40's. I am not doing marathon training so I know the times mean nothing towards a marathon time but maybe a 5k time? Can I break 18 for 5k?

26:12 for the 5K.
I did Yasso 800s in low 250s and ran an 18:10.
26:12 sounds high for you, but who knows, right?
I predict 19:00. sub 18:00 if you incorporated high quality Myoplex into your training.
Now I'm done.
Up your arse.
If you did 10 of them and the 400 jog took 3 minutes or less I would say that you definetly would be capable of breaking 18 for 5k. Probably not much under 18. Anywhere from 17:45-18:15 is my prediction. However, why do yasso 800's if your not training for a marathon. If your training for a 5k do workouts like 6 by 800 or 5 by 1000 at goal race pace.
2:30 rest between. No jog, just waiting and walking around waiting for the 2:30 to elapse. I could of done 6 instead of 10 but I felt well within myself. Strength increase speed so if I can handle 10 I think down the road it will help me maintain my pace late into a 5k. All except the first few were done at my projected goal pace or faster.
I usually can handle 6x800 at race pace with 400 jog recovery.
You did a longer and easier rest, but you did 10 reps...so I bet your race pace is 2:40. That's 5:20 pace, or 16:40. Congratulations!
what is a yasso 800?
I think you can break 18:00, but jog a 200 between each rep and maintain 2:45 per rep, then you can be confident of success.
That workout would be REAL tough for me. Your're giving me about a minute rest between 800's that are faster than sub 18 5k pace. If I did it I damn well better run a sub 18.

800's at a goal pace with 400 rest between.
the goal split for the 800 = your goal marathon pace in hours and minutes.
Do 10 reps and it's a good workout as one part of a marathon program.
