For distance runners? 1:1 or no?

not sure...but after we figure this one out, we'll put ourselves under the heat lamp, do some jumping jacks to warm up, then throw the medicine ball around before doing some shadow boxing...
Quads are usually stronger. Distance runners should have stronger hamstrings then most but quads are still generally 30% stronger.
Still, unless the hips are acting up or you are getting constantly pulled hamstrings I wouldn't worry about a specific ratio-just get both as strong as possible (I tend to focus on the hamstrings more).
I like to stretch my hammies out before I run a thon. On the half marys I don't worry about it as much. I get my quads really loose when I do 15 hundos and even looser for an 8 hundie.

8 hundie reps or comp?
Usually hamstrings have 60% of the strength of the quads.
this is the criteria we use when rehabilitating patients post ACL repair. once they get to this point (or beyond) we consider them back to "normal".
Mathematically speaking... 4 "quads" vs 3 hamstrings (but that's not really the case).
