If that isn't a world record than it is damn close. How the hell does she run that fast at 47???

Do you really want to ask that question of this audience?
She's Russian AND female so time that would otherwise be spent in the beauty parlor is spent training. Seriously though, many of us here would be hard pressed to run that
kind of time. If I remember right Priscilla Welch ran 2:26
which I think still stand as the womens masters world best.
About twenty years ago, when Ben Johnson was just a glimmer in his pharmacist's eye, she was one of the top middle-distance runners in the Soviet Union, with a 1,500-meter time (3:56) faster than the times that women are running these days. My recollection -- which may be faulty, is based solely on published hearsay, and should not be relied upon without careful verification through public records and other sources -- is that she took a "vacation" from competition for a couple of years in the late 1990s following a positive drug test.
I'm not inclined to get into the doping debates on this site, but I admit to having a certain suspicion about this particular individual. I'm curious about what anyone else here knows about her.
You have a pretty good memory for an "old guy". That course she ran today wasn't the easiest one I have seen which makes her time that much more impressive. I don't believe Ocean state drug tests. Like yourself, I would love to know about this woman's past. She must have one helluva kick with that kind of leg speed!
Here's an article about her. Apparently, her positive drug test was for pseudoepherdrine and ephedrine, which probably didn't get her more than a six-month suspension.
Yea she'll burn out in 6 months taking all those drugs.
