My target for next spring is to cut my road 10K time by 30 seconds to sub 33 minutes (yeah, I'm a lot slower than most of you). My current PB is 33:18 and was set off running 50-60mpw for three months to April, comprising two track sessions each week (one at 5K/3K pace and the other at target 10K) and a long but easy-paced run of up to 14 miles, as well as lots of easy running. A couple of years ago I managed to run an almost identical time off about 35mpw but with much more quality (a track session every other day) though I got injured not long after. I need help because I don't know what I need to do to get under 33. I could increase the total mileage but would that really make a significant enough difference? Or do I need to simply run my track sessions harder? Or perhaps there's something else I should be doing?
