Just to add:
Stanford
Pro: Great weather-never cold, never hot. Rains a little.
World class academics.
Con: Living in dorm for four years unless very rich.
Unproven coach with women.
Lack of training partners.
UW
Pro: Great training partners for 3 years minimum.
World class city and cultural/social life.
Team unity. Great teammates that seemingly like
each other very much.
Academics are way better than nuetral.
Nuetral: Weather. Never hot not too cold. A little wet.
Con: A little wet. Can bother some runners. Although never too cold.
Possible con: Great training partners. She has never trained with other top girls. Can she handle not being the very best on the team.
UO
Pros: Great training partners in Kosinski and blood for 1-2
years. The shelf may be bare after next year though.
UO mystique at Hayward Field/Pre all that stuff.
Good trails to train on.
Nuetral: Coaching. I'm not sure the lady coach can handle
top talent. I thought the team was mismanged this
year a bit. I'm not sure Vin actually coaches the
women's team. He let Dena coach at Stanford and
seems resigned to let Powell coach the women at
UO. If not for the "free agency" signings over the
summer, UO wouldn't have been in the top 5 teams at
NCAAs.
Con: Academically poor school.
Limited training partners after next year. UW has a
better mix of middle and long distance talent too.
Placing second in XC for the next 3 years.
