I bet there are three kids on my school's rugby team who are over 230lbs and who can run faster than that...

a Buddy of mine was old - 48 and ran 16:12 while weighing 205...he is bit light but doubt anone 230 can approach that

Just time Lebron James. There will be a new record. A frind of mine in high school was an all american tight end in college. He was 6' 6'' and weighed about 230-240 and was a high school 400 guy. No way to prove it but im sure he could run at least a low 5.

larry greer now the assistant disnce coach who was a CIF champion has run under 4:10 for the mile and he is way over 230 pounds.

I remember someone making a post about a 250 pound guy who ran like a 240 marathon or something? It was a few years ago, my details might be a tad off. Anyone recall this? This guy would clearly crush 526.

How many world champions are self appointed anyway? The bottom line is if the world didn't crown you champion you may be good but someone else is most likely better. If he is the best he wouldn't have to try so hard to convince everyone.

In high school there was a guy named Paul Markel who was the only guy to beat me in the 9th grade turkey trot. He ran distance in track and played d-line in football. Each year he got bigger. Just before our junior year we ran a timed mile for football conditioning. I ran it in 5:40 and he was at least 25 seconds ahead of me.

He was so big his juniior year that our coach switched him to the throws. He ended up getting second in the state in discus his senior year. He went to SVSU on a football scholarship and didn\'t do track his first two years. He quit football his junior year and started to focus on track. He ended up a multi-time DII National Champion in the discus and hammer. He was also a two-time Olympic Trials participant in the Hammer.

Some big guys have surprising endurance.

If those guys can run so damn fast in the mile, it makes me wonder what a guy like Allen Iverson could do. He almost has a distance runner body already and we know his speed is amazing.

On youtube there's a lot of videos of Yao Ming training his aerobic capacity. Think of his long strides...

if they require the basketball big men to run under 5:35 would that mean that coach would not allow shaquille o' neal to play for a team he coached, as i dont think o' neal can run a 5:35 mile?

Plenty of of Decathletes have to be faster than that. The top 18 spots in the 1500 at NCAAs would have converted to under 5:25 last spring. Surely one of those guys was over 230.

I think I vaguely remember that. It was a guy who was lean, but very, very muscular.

I ran 4:42 when I weighed 217 pounds. I think I could have beaten his time.

not fair to include freakishly tall that weigh a deuce-thirty because that isn't really that heavy at that height.

I say who has the fastest mile time divided by BMI would be a better test.

So, a lot of BS so far but no proof that anyone has done it.
